 Tasted by VoteferPedro on 9/8/2022: brought to BYO chinese restaurant but my friends had another bottle and ultimately this was forgotten and was left in the car for 2 days...
I breached it expecting it to be stewed but the aromas were a leafy or green aroma (not pyrazine or capsicum) but with sort of strawberry scent. The flavor was more toward blueberry and very typically pinot on entry.. It really started lovely but then became steely and acrid. The finish was a long acrid note that erased the pleasure of the initial aromas and fruit. I would say that this bitterness is not necessarily from the heat. I nitrogen gassed the bottle and tried on day 2 and it started fresh as ever going bitter at the end. For me, this was not really drinkable (1156 views)

On the nose, a bit of sulfurous funk that never quite blew off, coupled with strawberries and cranberries. On the palate, some of the astringency you expect from a rose, but with a concentration of fruit that is atypical for the category, with strawberries, orange citrus, and cherries all making appearances. A different and quite pleasurable experience. (1126 views)

 Tasted by Shay.Aldriedge on 6/25/2021 & rated 94 points: A polarizing wine without question, but one that I am absolutely enthralled with every time I open a bottle. This, SQN and Andremily’s rosés all belong to a special group that does not follow red wines steps, nor rosés…a category all to their own.

This would be a perfect candidate for a black glass tasting. Texturally and structure wise, this is like a mix of whole cluster Pinot with a hint of Syrah. Dark ruby in the glass. Aromatically it has ripe strawberry, sage and whole cluster spice. Concentrated, yet light and vibrant on the palate. Bing cherry, cran-raspberry, black tea, peppercorn crusted rhubarb notes but also a light streak of iron down the middle. Not quite sanguine, but plenty of punch and spice to the fruit.

These can age really well (oldest I’ve had was one with 6yrs, and it was fantastic), so no rush. If you’re looking for a typical rosé profile, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for something you’ve likely not experienced before, you’ll be glad you tried this. (2018 views)

This is really not a rose, more like a light pinot and I recommend drinking it at cellar temp. Paired with halibut in a pomegranate salsa it went very nicely. (2428 views)

 Tasted by doggman on 9/7/2020 & rated 88 points: I’m not sure what this stuff is... It’s not a classic rose’ by any means. For the price and the pedigree it ought to be startlingly good. I’m really lost as how to describe it other than I have a case of it. No nose - maybe squished plums. My SO says it’s like a watered down Pinot and that’s pretty close. Vaguely sweet with a mild tannin finish. It’s better decanted at room temp. The older vintages kicked ass!. I’ll cellar it for a while and see what happens. Puzzling... (1054 views)

As other people have said the colour is more of very light pinot than a rose but it still straddles this bizarre line between the two. I love seeing people's faces when they see it and don't know what to make of it.

On the nose is where you start to realize this is a serious wine. The first thing that jumps out at you is this funky dirty oregon barnyard smell and again after seeing the colour and expecting some fruity bull shit your mind is just kind of like... what?

On the palate the wine is delicate like an old volnay, soft red fruit but balanced against the dirtiness. Great length on the finish that shows the quality that's gone into it. It clearly has no backbone or tannin to it though and although in a good place right now, it wouldn't even give this 3 years before it starts to go off in a weird direction.... actually that sounds pretty good. Medium bodied with bright and open red cherry upfront, deepening quite a bit through the middle and finishing with tart red cherry and wildberry qualities. Moderate acidity, light spices and additional tart notes on the finish. This has more body than expected for a rose, but the combination of bright red fruit and tart red fruit with the mid-body density to bring the two components together worked extremely well. The resulting wine retains the tartness expected of a rose, but the depth showed off the purity of the fruit to better effect. Should drink quite well over the next few years. (1163 views)

Antica Terra is an 11 acre vineyard located on a rocky hillside in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The first vines were planted here in 1989 in a clearing within the oak savannah. The geology of the site is extremely unusual. In most of the region, vineyards are planted in the relatively deep, geologically young soils left behind by either the Missoula floods or the volcanic events that formed the Cascade Range. In this place, the remains of a far older pre-historic seabed rise to the surface, leaving the vines to struggle, without topsoil, amongst a fractured mixture of sandstone sown with fossilized oyster shells.
Above ground, the place is just as intense. Its exposed boulders, steeply pitched grades and panoramic views of the surrounding land convey a feeling of dramatic scale. The west wind moves constantly through the vines. Clouds fissure over the vineyard and allow the sun to ray through, at an angle and with a clarity that makes the site feel bright, even on the bleakest day. But it’s what we can’t see and feel, those aspects of the site that the vines allude to as they strive to find balance, that make it a remarkable place.

Our oldest vines look like infants. Instead of the gnarled trunks and robust canes one expects from vines planted over two decades ago, ours are spindly and frail. The fruit is diminutive as well. The tiny clusters of thick-skinned berries are less than half the usual size and fit easily in the palm of the hand. The canopy, which struggles to reach the top catch-wire, is incredibly sensitive. The smallest changes in the environment can cause the leaves to turn yellow and fall.

These qualities cause us to worry. They demand that we offer our vines the most exacting attention and care. In return, they offer us a glimpse into what we can’t see: a wine that is unique and instantly identifiable.

"Rosé blend" can mean a blend of just about any varietals since the designation comes from the resulting color of the wine.
