| Community Tasting Notes (average 88.8 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 29 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by JCGuthrie on 7/28/2022 & rated 89 points: Light citrus and hay on the nose. On the palate more light citrus and saline. Some sweet tart and caramel notes. Tonight's bottle came across as a bit simple, but solid. Unfortunately, it had a catfood like aroma and was flawed :( (1170 views) | | Tasted by sunalsorises on 4/5/2021 & rated 88 points: Medium depth with decent acidity. A bit hot on the finish. Good value at sun $10. Sweet and sour attack of yellow citrus with lemon predominating. Light to medium weight in body; ends with a sour downward note that makes my tongue water with a touch of spice (heat) on the finish. This gets better with each bottle. Load up if you see them at Costco. Good + (1194 views) | | Tasted by tanglenet on 2/22/2021: Opened not decanted and served chilled. Initial funk but started to improve or my palate is adjusting. Lemon citrus nose; dark citrus on the entry; good acidity; medium weight in body; darker lemon tastes on the palate (more than entry); ends with a sour than sweet spicy finish. Heat is a little elevated to me. Also may have a touch of premox. Good QPR.
Finished on Day 2. Very much improved with more opulence. (1017 views) | | Tasted by joraesque on 2/11/2021: A bit ripe and just a tad flat—though there's enough acidity to counterpoint the heaviness—but a *fantastic* QPR at under $10 at Costco! 13% ABV. (989 views) | | Tasted by signotim on 2/10/2021 & rated 87 points: Solid chardonnay and great value. (944 views) | | Tasted by Yonny on 2/6/2021 & rated 89 points: Certainly dry but great flavors as described by others. (917 views) | | Tasted by cos65 on 1/14/2021: sb Light yellow Light bruised apple aromas Dull soft apple flavors, low acidity In contrast to other notes, this particular bottle lacked any zip and was rather dull and a bit of a disappointment (772 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 8/4/2020 & rated 91 points: Light canary yellow color; aromatic, white jasmine, pear, lemon nose; tasty, juicy, lemon gelee, pear palate with appetizing balancing acidity; medium-plus finish (13% alcohol; Diam 10 cork) (822 views) | | Tasted by JCGuthrie on 7/13/2020 & rated 91 points: Light, pretty floral nose with honeysuckle and minerals. Very light on the palate, with under-ripe stone fruit, honeydew and minerals. Modest complexity and a touch of bitterness on the back end are my only complaints. (953 views) | | Tasted by agsdlswine on 4/6/2020 & rated 89 points: Very nice spring sipper. (1025 views) | | Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 2/15/2020 & rated 88 points: Sunfish Cellars Burgundy & Oregon Tasting (Sunfish Cellars/I Nonni Minneapolis, MN): Lemon oil, spice, minerals and sour apples. Medium finish and good acidity. (1694 views) | | Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 9/10/2019: Chanson bet on vire clesse right away and apparently made a big investment. Perfect freshness and something for everyone I am being told.
A touch of citrus but also a bit more rich fruit. Not quite bruised. Doesn't quite have the energy on the palate but I was just drinking chablis. (1504 views) | | Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 7/11/2019: Wow is that some funk on the nose. Honey and lemon on the palate as well. (1535 views) | | Tasted by sdwineguru on 6/3/2019 & rated 89 points: 2016 Chanson Père & Fils Viré-Clessé $16. Good area for values in white Burgundy. Sharp dark gold; peachy, floral, tropical and vanilla nose; mid-body; good Chardonnay extract; round, butter with decent acids, semi-crisp finish. w/appetizers; seafood (1264 views) | | Tasted by eboracum on 5/12/2019 & rated 87 points: Medium bodied with nice minerality but not very interesting fruit. Quite good. (1190 views) | | Tasted by ParisWino on 3/20/2019 & rated 88 points: Amply fruited, with notes of apple, roasted pear, muscat on the nose and palate, with a stronger sense of citrus fruits on the finish and just a touch of minerality. A reasonable jolt of acidity balances out the otherwise medium-full body and hint of sucrosité. At this price point, this is excellent value for a white Burgundy. 2018 vintage: "marked by a wet spring, a superb summer and a good harvest" 2019 vintage reports 2021: "From a general standpoint, whether for white, rosé or red wines, 2021 is a year marked by quality in the Rhône Valley Vineyards. Structured, elegant, fresh and fruity will be the main keywords for this new vintage." 2022 harvest: idealwine.info | wine-searcher.comBurgundy Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)
Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes: * "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons * "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson * "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson
# 2014 Vintage Notes: "We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates
# 2015 Vintage Notes: "Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson
# 2017 Vintage Notes: "Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson
# 2018 Vintage Notes: "The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
