Community Tasting Notes (average 92.1 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 35 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Vas19 on 4/7/2023 & rated 92 points: Seems younger than I expected. Still some noticeable oak. Good juice int there but needs time (2203 views)
Tasted by ThijsV on 4/1/2023 & rated 93 points: The Jane (Antwerpen): [Restaurant purchase] No detailed notes. This was gorgeous; red berries, some black fruit, hint of barnyard. Long finish. It was a perfect match with the venison (1908 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 3/14/2023: Wine Workshop: Focus on Clos Rougeard (Cafe Evergreen): More green pepper and herbal and intense and bright. It needs a bit of time to settle in but then there’s this underlying classiness that exists in all of these wines and was definitely here too once it had the time to get there. (2252 views)
Tasted by acyso on 12/14/2021 & rated 88 points: Terroir Tuesday at Table, Donkey and Stick (Clos Rougeard) (Chicago, IL): Seems like I've liked this bottle in the past, but in context with the rest of the wines tonight, this felt emaciated and weak. There's some smokiness on the nose here, as well as a bit of a cigarette ash note that I definitely do not enjoy. The palate is thin and light and definitely feels weak in comparison to the other wines; maybe it's a function of the vintage? High acidity and red fruits that are clearly on the underripe side.  Tasted by Morpheus Qiu on 10/16/2021 & rated 92 points: 瓶醒6小时
非常纯净的棕红色
开始是樱桃的香甜、混杂着植物、青椒和泥土和雪松的气息。而后香料的气息逐步展现。但仍然是雨后森林的气息。
单宁质地丝滑,酸度明亮高挑。口感层次丰富复杂。烘烤的香料萦绕。收尾干净是浆果和巧克力的混合 (2757 views)
Tasted by enthusiastic_amateur on 9/27/2021 & rated 90 points: More mature than expected at this age (8 years), bricking on the edges and secondary notes on the palate. Drink now or hold until it goes into full maturity. (2632 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 7/14/2021 & rated 93 points: Bastille day lunch. Decanted for 2h. Leafy nose with red fruit and earhty elements. Aromatic and fresh palate, tannins in check. This is well done but not as deep as the single vineyard cuvees. Wait, best after 2028. (3839 views)
Tasted by Mazy on 5/9/2021 & rated 90 points: Carafé 1h30. (3000 views)
Tasted by Brian of Mull on 3/28/2021 & rated 93 points: Opened 2 hours. Color is brick red. On the nose: Cassis, plum and hint of vanilla. ON the palate: Sour cherry, plum , cassis, hint of rhubarb. Finish is ok but was expecting a big longer. Breadth of flavor is good. Wine is elegant. It is very good. This is a food wine. (1971 views)
92 pts (2416 views)
Tasted by tooch on 2/9/2021 & rated 93 points: Tuesday Dinner - Raveneau & Clos Rougeard (Rustico - Thousand Oaks, CA): Drank alongside the 2014. Aromas of bell pepper, underbrush, and tobacco. Palate was textured and deep. The tobacco was really nice and mingled with red fruits. Great balance, should age for a long time. (2311 views)
Tasted by kingkanu on 7/26/2020: Red wines of the Loire Valley (Zoom tasting): Biodynamic, traditional style, only 2500 cases made. Medium weight, 24 months in oak some new. Aromatic, blackcurrant leaf, black cherry, a slightly bitter twist on the finish, elegant but has some richness in the fruit. very fine tannin and a lengthy finish (1007 views)
Tasted by burgconvert on 6/26/2020 & rated 92 points: Exceptional red fruit and roundness. A delight that oozes finesse and delicacy. A bit meh on the QPR though (1992 views)

91 pts (3273 views)
Tasted by alanr on 3/13/2020 & rated 93 points: I knew Passionfish had this in their cellar, was just waiting for them to put it on their active list. Got lucky, and it was there for our anniversary visit to Pacific Grove, and maybe our last outing of 2020, just before the Covid shutdown.

Medium dark garnet color, earthy nose with a pleasant slight green herbal note; the palate starts with tasty darker fruit, nice medium intensity, very good acidity, then a lovely tangy slight saline soy note, there’s a bit of green here but it just blends in with the other interesting complexities; all kinds of savory, green peppercorns weaving through the somewhat reserved dark fruit. Quite delicious, complex, fascinating wine. I loved the 12 last year, this is at least as good, maybe even more interesting. Off vintages baby! (2488 views)
Tasted by xwine on 2/21/2020: Off the Passionfish list. First time trying Rougeard. A distinct green olive note, great texture and depth, minerals, this was really nice right out of the gate. Savory, supple, a very nice wine, and the balance is spot on. A couple of hours in, the fruit really came to life, bright and energetic -- but this really needs another ten years or more. (2463 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 1/17/2020 & rated 94 points: During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Somebody smuggled this one in. Did well, Burgundian palate with touch of cluster/bell pepper. Give it some more time. (3375 views)
Tasted by Ramon1947 on 9/18/2019 & rated 92 points: young and needs air to really enjoy now. glossy fruit at this stage. richness is there, but still green.
92 at the moment...but would love to see where this is in 3 years. (3044 views)
Tasted by acyso on 8/17/2019 & rated 93 points: Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Most prominently is a note of cigarette ash on the palate, but this is pretty intense Loire. The nose doesn't go overboard with the green elements, and there is some really nice fruit here. The palate is fairly concentrated and there's a lot of depth here. Obviously young, but not shut down and drinking pretty well right now. (3194 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 8/17/2019 & rated 93 points: Saturday at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is lovely and expressive with red cherries, strawberries, fresh picked berries, violets, herbs, roses, earth tones, tobacco, and root vegetables. There is excellent depth and an open-knit style that is very attractive even at this youthful stage.

Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. The structure is certainly youthful but underneath lies a silky feel with tones of red cherries, strawberries, violets, roses, earth tones, and some tobacco.

Overall: This is a lovely, if young, Clos Rougeard. This was fairly open and giving with an attractive red-fruited base and a touch of savoriness to add in some intrigue and depth. This could still benefit from another 5+ years to hit that next level that it is capable of. (1639 views)
Tasted by Hanibal on 7/23/2019 & rated 92 points: needed more air or age (3011 views)
Tasted by Mr.Fossan on 7/4/2019 & rated 93 points: Dark fruit, floral, nice acidity, great complexity. Super delicious wine!! Will revisit in a couple of years of cellaring.. (2390 views)
Tasted by Barry Rothof on 7/1/2019 & rated 93 points: BBQ & Wines (Oegstgeest, NL): Cool fresh, pure, clean, dark and red fruit, balanced, inviting and very charming. A delicious wine! (2630 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 6/18/2019: Sucked it down in a way that we shouldn't have but darn was it good. (2229 views)
