Community Tasting Notes (average 93.8 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 10 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by DavilaDC on 9/21/2022 & rated 86 points: You need more time before opening this one. It was too big, too fruity, too sweet, and too cloying. The acid was fine as the wine wasn't flabby, but something just wasn't right. (809 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 1/9/2021 & rated 95 points: See prior notes and enjoy (1293 views)
Tasted by drdan8 on 12/27/2020 & rated 93 points: I found this absolutely delightful after a 2 hour decant, realizing this will probably be even better with 7-8 years horizontal.
Sumptuous Cabernet nose of dark cherry, loam, apple skin, and menthol. Leans more to the red fruit spectrum on the palate.
Tannin structure was suave and elegant; slowly beginning to integrate.
This has a good life ahead of it. (1175 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 3/11/2020 & rated 96 points: See prior notes - I need to get more of this stuff as the first two Ive had are fantastic and they will get better with age (1528 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 2/19/2020 & rated 96 points: Green pepper burned off in decanter to reveal dark fruits, cedar and loamy soils. Dark red to opaque in color, medium tannins and viscosity. Easily a 30 second finish and I think this wine will get better over next few years (1569 views)
Tasted by GT3John on 11/2/2019 & rated 98 points: Ok, I waited for the second bottle to talk about this wine. I don’t put many notes up. The reason is that I’m embarrassingly untrained and I don’t know the proper speak. However, I DO know my Napa wines.

Wow! This wine was such a surprise. Intense fruit typical Beckstoffer black fruits. The intensity is just wow. The tannins aren’t perfectly integrated but there’s a pop on the finish that helps the finish to linger. It may sound like a drawback but the extra grit makes it interesting and enjoyable. This is such a nicely crafted wine. (1502 views)
Tasted by Geaux Tigers on 7/15/2019 & rated 94 points: Napa 2019; 7/14/2019-7/18/2019: Beautiful wine. Red fruit, bubble gum, nice tannin management and complimentary oak notes. This was the highlight of our tasting. Bing cherry, faint raspberry, lovely mouthfeel. (1595 views)
Tasted by LiteItOnFire on 6/24/2019 & rated 92 points: Tasting today came in a little flat. Curious if over time it will build and expand. If I had any bottles of my own, I would hold for another 2 years to see if it will improve. (1695 views)
Tasted by ColluraJ on 9/14/2018 & rated 94 points: Tasted at the winery. 100% cabernet aged 22 months. Deep red color and clear. Aromatic with youthful development. Aromas of red apple, oak and blackberry. Dry with a medium-full body. Crisp acidity. High tannins with fair balance. Moderate flavors of green pepper, spices, apple and watermelon. Very long finish. Great. (1098 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
