Community Tasting Notes (average 88.4 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 12 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Christine Beevers on 11/14/2016 & rated 95 points: beautiful wine, drinking well now (3023 views)
Tasted by Innertällmo Bryggeri on 10/30/2016 & rated 91 points: Stables and black olives, good wine at its peak! (2699 views)
Tasted by Leto South on 10/2/2016 & rated 87 points: Deep red - but, for a Montus, a bit pale! Bq w barnyard, meat, smoke, dark berries. High acidity, still prominent tannins. Fruit beginning to fade. While the wine isn't really tasting that old, it seems to be separating into its components. Drink quickly! (2710 views)
Tasted by champussi on 10/27/2015 & rated 88 points: Nein, das ist kein großer Wein!
(3645 views)
Tasted by redders on 7/23/2015 & rated 88 points: still deep coloured . Deep damson fruit on nose bit of slate, full bodied tannins still evident but luscious notes as well. Quite linear and slight drying finish but good. (3248 views)
Tasted by Will Devize on 2/8/2013 & rated 85 points: Rather a tough old monster, this has some interesting olive notes as well as plenty of savoury leathery qualities but is texturally brash, almost to the point of intimidation. Astringent, unforgiving and exceptionally dry with 'relief' arriving only in the form of spikes of unintegrated oak. Hard work and overpriced at £36. (2679 views)
Tasted by cisco on 12/31/2007 flawed bottle: 2 bottle of this and both were flawed with a strong chemical note. Poured down the sink. (4508 views)
Tasted by roberog on 10/6/2007 & rated 89 points: A lot burnt fruit. Nice nose. Still some tannin so could go another year or so. Best to drink now though. (4308 views)
Tasted by roberog on 1/11/2006 & rated 89 points: Still drinking well and at its peak. Good for another year or 2 under the proper cellaring conditions. Fresh with a wonderful nose. (3580 views)
Tasted by jkoenen on 10/28/2005 & rated 88 points: Bordeaux 1997 @ my place (Netherlands): Black core. Cigarbox, pipe tobacco, licorice, schoolpaint, clay and grilled meat in the nose. On the palate I also get a lot of ink, laurel, blackberries. Good concentration and acidity. Plenty of length. This is young, powerful and tasty. Very nice! 16.5/20 (2221 views)

Madiran

Vin de Madiran (l'ESAT de Madiran)

The Madiran appellation is where red wines were born to go with magret and confit de canard. Alain Brumont is a master of this deep, dark-fruited, powerfully grippy style, the tannins melding satisfyingly with the fat of the meat. HT:
