Tasted by AGELVIS on 1/18/2023 & rated 93 points: 90 min decant. Deep dark vibrant rosy magenta color. Black cherry, cocoa, truffle-dusted lemon pound cake, pumpernickel, and honeysuckle on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with satiny acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. (1928 views)
Tasted by Purple Tooth on 11/7/2022 & rated 94 points: Nice wine with a plush feel and big time structure and tannic package. Lots of dark red fruit, in transition into plum with a warm feel. Drink (1758 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 8/29/2022 & rated 93 points: One hour double decant. Very very deep, bright, hazy magenta color. Whoppers (chocolate covered malt balls), Korean plum, raspberry preserves, and cinnamon on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with spicy acidity. Soft tannins on the medium long finish.

This is nice, but more red-fruited than I like. A firmer finish would also be nice. It’s still a very fun CS. (2021 views)
Tasted by Golfer70 on 7/14/2022: Rich, complex (1313 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 4/23/2022 & rated 95 points: Two hour decant. Very deep dark ruby magenta color. Raisinets, cherry, raspberry thumbprint cookie, and orange mocha on the nose. Dry, satiny palate. Full, soft tannins on the longish finish. (2422 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 2/25/2022 & rated 94 points: Two hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Cinnamon roll, milk chocolate, blueberry, and graphite on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. (1736 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 1/23/2022 & rated 93 points: Two hour decant. Very very deep, slightly hazy magenta color. Wild strawberry jam, blanched almonds, raspberry Pop Tart, and subtle maple syrup on the nose. Smooth, dry, almost slick palate, with soft acidity. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

This is nice, but I’m hoping it’s still improving. It’s more red fruited than I typically like. (1613 views)
Tasted by Mark1npt on 6/20/2021 & rated 92 points: Informal notes at Vine Vault mega tasting 33 wines in all......all wines open 60-90 min by time they were consumed. Most were slow ox'd in bottle, some were double splash decanted, a few were straight decanted.

I liked this but preferred the Estate Selection blend by a point or two. Well made, good weight in the mouth, nice acidity but with the limited use of air at the event, the other wine seemed to be in a better place for this tasting. (3179 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 6/19/2021 & rated 93 points: Medium garnet magenta color. Lots of red fruit and floral perfume on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with nice acidity and balance. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. (1852 views)
Tasted by wineloverla on 8/16/2020: awesome wine (1785 views)
Tasted by chezbeach on 2/14/2020 & rated 95 points: Wow. This was a beautiful Cabernet. Great balance and structure, long finish. A surprise, coming out of Santa Barbara county, but a real find. (1697 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
