Tasted by baldi_renato@yahoo.fr on 1/14/2024: Very good but too young, recommend waiting 5+ years (914 views)
Tasted by Raywilliams420 on 1/8/2024: I got to this bottle very late unfortunately. Pretty fruit forward for a Brut in my opinion but the few wines I have had from P. Jouet have been a bit fruit forward I got to this after the carbonation was no longer!! unfortunately. Good minerality still an a good backbone supports this wine. Good acidity also. Wish I could’ve got to this while it was fresh. Still a good drinking wine. And dEf still enjoyed drinking it despite “no bubbles” (1210 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 12/6/2023 & rated 96 points: Blind, from MAG. This was very popular at the table tonight, most preople preferred this over the also stunning Grand Siecle #26, which was more expressive and my favorite. The 2012 Belle Epoque has enormous precision on the palate, fine perlage. Nose of citrus some brioche, holding back still. So much delineation and poise. Clearly too young. Drink after 2030. 96+ (1852 views)
Tasted by tanguero8 on 10/7/2023 & rated 90 points: I have fond memories of the 1985 and then 1988 vintages of this champagne, back when I first learnt to love this champagne! The subsequent vintages, probably owing to my own evolution, seem disappointing in comparison, but of course are still excellent, just perhaps no longer my favourite, other than for sentimental reasons. They seem to be released close to 10 years after the vintage and I would not suggest keeping them much longer before drinking. (1601 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 9/28/2023 & rated 95 points: Still a little closed and youthful, very good freshness and volume here. The Rosé was more expressive today. This will be great though with a little more time as well. (2163 views)
Tasted by N.Bonaparte on 8/24/2023 & rated 93 points: This only needed 30 min in the glass to open up. A well balanced wine at this point with upside potential. This should reach prime time in another 5-7 years and drink well through 2035. (1578 views)
Tasted by Decanting Queen on 7/16/2023: Very different than my last bottle a year ago—seems more like bottle variation than evolution but who knows. This was still excellent and I think one of the underrated house champagnes.
Crisp citrus, yeasty, bready, perfect tiny bubbles. A bit more savory and perhaps cheesey notes vs last time. I enjoyed this. Great with lobster ravioli (probably great with anything) (2386 views)
Tasted by Sean Tay on 6/28/2023 & rated 95 points: Pronounced nose intensity with lemon, pear, red apple, bread, brioche, yeast, toast. Bold and aromatic. High acidity. (1410 views)
Tasted by Pontus Palmenäs on 3/3/2023 & rated 91 points: Tasted blind. In a very tough competition, where it fell far behind other prestiges. Rather anonymous, with grilled lemon, some maturity tones. (1700 views)
Tasted by Kim Gerner on 11/5/2022 & rated 94 points: Danish Top 20 champagne blind tasting vintage 2012 (24 btls) (Nimb): Horisontal half blind tasting of 24 top champagnes from vintage 2012. Conclusion: It is a great vintage. My topratings were to some extent unexpected. My winner was Diebolt-Vallois Fleur de Passion which I rated 96. In a shared second place with 94+ were Legras Saint Vincent (unexpected but I don't forget that 1996 might be the best champagne I have ever tasted so far. Try to get a btl. if you can. It is difficult but worth it - still in a perfect drinking window), Veuve Clicquot vintage(!), Moet & Chandon Grand vintage(!) and Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque.

This wine: Lemon color. Non oxidative style. Extremely nice and delicate aromas. Dried fruit, blossom, toast. On the palate also strawberry and grapefruit (a little bitterness). Creamy mousse. 94+ (886 views)
Tasted by Alex Barbera on 8/21/2022 & rated 91 points: Wohl definitiv Not my Stil in 2012 aktuell - etwas arg gefällig- zuckerschwänzig (3016 views)
Tasted by Decanting Queen on 8/18/2022 & rated 94 points: This was so excellent it made me excited about the 2012 vintage. So crisp and elegant yet full
Of delicious fruit and minerals. I am surprised by all of the negative reviews here. Bottle variation? (3915 views)
Tasted by remyworldpeace on 7/1/2022 & rated 91 points: Toasty, floral nose with raspberry hints. Air reveals creamy and banana nose. Citrus and grape fruit acidity along with peaches and banana hints. balanced with red fruits - strawberry and raspberry. Peach and pear along with lemon on a creamy finish. Lovely balance and structure. (2812 views)
Tasted by Angel Lupercio on 5/30/2022 & rated 93 points: This wine is pale gold in color with a medium intensity of aroma. The nose is composed of bread dough, asparagus, yeast, green apple, hazelnut, yellow pear, banana, and under-ripe strawberries. The palate is comparable to the nose, minus the strawberries. This wine is dry with a medium+ level of acid, a full body, a long finish an aggressive mousse, and a medium ABV. Overall this is a very good sparkling wine that should be drunk now. (2837 views)
Tasted by Alex Barbera on 5/26/2022 & rated 92 points: Nach dem Öffnen zunächst langanhaltende Hefe-„Fehl“-Note, die mit Luft verfliegt. Überraschender Antrunk - ganz anderes Geschmacksbild gegenüber den bisherigen BEs. Glatter, ruhiger, wenig Ecken und Kanten, weniger mitreißend. Nächste Flasche erst in 3 - 5 Jahren. (2585 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 5/25/2022 & rated 92 points: 2012 Pinot Tasting + some lovely supplementals (@Private location, Sersheim): Glass: Gabriel Standard
Very yeasty nose that cleaned up with time in the glass. On the palate very round, soft, balanced and harmonious and without the usual oaky notes. Fine mousseux, good length. Beautiful already, but no need to hurry. 92 (2246 views)
Tasted by annaralas on 4/12/2022 & rated 92 points: Beautiful acidity , rose petals, overall balance, still can do better in a few years (2182 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 2/20/2022 & rated 93 points: These bottles are always hit or miss for me. This one was good but heavy with very few bubbles. Honey, ripe stone fruit and slight nuttiness. Moderate acidity so would not think this is one to hold long term. (2186 views)
Tasted by FEDEVIDAL on 12/31/2021 & rated 93 points: Elegante, sutil, equiulibrado, con finísimas burbujas y deliciosos sabores a cítricos y frutales. Gran Champagne (2211 views)
Tasted by tpoyser on 12/7/2021 & rated 75 points: Boooooring. Wow, the 2012 does not live up to the 2008 I had a few months ago. It's not young, or needs to develop, it's just a poor wine. I still can't believe PJ puts meunier in their prestige cuvee, but after a sniff it was obvious. Tech sheet says 5% meunier, it tastes like much more than that.

You're better off going with Laurent-Perrier or Taittinger brut non-vintage for 1/3 the price. (2786 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 9/4/2021 flawed bottle: So reductive several tasters called it flawed, but generally disappointing and I like a bit of reductiveness in a wine. Tasted with Dom & Dame and there was no comparison and consensus this wine was substandard. (3441 views)
Tasted by Puteljen! on 8/21/2021 & rated 96 points: Les Trois garcons chez Lukas: This is a marvel of a wine. Exquisitely elegant, it is not about power or intensity, but balance, finesse and energy. It has that feeling of weightlessness, just floating on the palate like a creamy cloud of the lightest sweet lemon and flower petals. A hint of seashore and fresh oysters as well. Almost linear and devoid of complexity, almost like drinking scented mineral water at times, but oh so good! It is hard to describe the feeling as it is so fleeting, but it is one of ultimate luxury and silky freshness. Very long. If, at some point in the future, this adds some more depth without losing its current balance, it will be a good candidate for my first 100 point wine. (3473 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 8/19/2021: Tasty and lovely, if not an amazing thrill ride compared to what was to come. (3247 views)
Tasted by wineappreciation on 7/13/2021 & rated 94 points: Lemon, peaches, marzipan; fruitful, long, luscious, sensuous, voluptuous, luminous, sinuous, with an extended finish; excellent; it is champagne, but bordering on the sublime (3022 views)
Tasted by rkww on 5/1/2021 & rated 91 points: Consumed too young, the 2012 Perrier-Jouët has not yet reached its Belle Époque. Today, it's all lemon, marzipan, yeast, and lots of tiny bright bubbles, with a finish that starts out lemony and ends with a distinct petrol aftertaste. The beautiful bottle may justify its price tag in time. For now, I found it enjoyable enough as a gift, but I wouldn't spend my own money on it. (3578 views)

Perrier-Jouët

Producer website
Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 in Epernay by Pierre-Nicolas-Marie Perrier and his wife, Adele Jouët. One of the most prestigious houses in Champagne, the firm was shipping wine to Great Britain by 1813 and to the United States by 1837. Perrier-Jouët owns 266 acres of vineyards in Champagne, with an average rating of 95%, and is known worldwide for its consistency of style. By the end of the 19th Century, its Brut cuvées earned the reputation of nobility and prestige that continues today. Perrier Jouët's glamorous "Cuvée Belle Epoque", known in the United States as Fleur de Champagne, was launched in 1969 and has become the most important cuvée de prestige to appear after World War II. The bottle is adorned with enamel-painted anenomes originally created by Emile Gallé in 1900, but the wine is as famous for its taste as it is for its beautiful packaging.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
