Tasted by footloosiety on 4/18/2023 & rated 86 points: It's not as good as a big tasty GSM blend, but for the price it's very good. Like a ripasso is to an amarone maybe? (660 views)
Tasted by failed wine merchant on 11/1/2022 & rated 84 points: Côtes du Rhône Reserve 2018, Perrin Famille
Price: 12€
Alc./vol. 14.5%
Drunk: November 2022
Rating: 86/100

Pleasant, easy-drinking light to medium bodied red.
Correct and pleasant but very little character or fruit.
According to the Famille Perrin company's website this wine has a "beautiful deep ruby colour with purple undertones" - which is true enough. It then goes on to speak about the "intensity of red fruit, raspberry jam, spices and blackpepper."
The cellar must have forgotten to bottle these qualities into the example I purchased.
There is nothing intense about this wine: pleasant but instantly forgettable.
Another prestigious winemaker resting on their laurels. (846 views)
Tasted by Mortenhdahl on 5/29/2022: Brugt til sovs (1360 views)
Tasted by SuperSomm on 3/24/2022: Deep ruby colour. Medium and developing nose with blackberry, black cherry, dark plum, cedar, tobacco and forest floor. Medium taste of blackberry, dark plum, tobacco and sweet spices. Medium long and dry finish. Medium acidity. Light tannins. Medium body. A very good Côtes du Rhône. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with duck or pork. (217 views)
Tasted by nisid on 3/2/2022 & rated 88 points: Good wine for the price. More savory than fruity. Good acid and minerality. Better with food than as a sipper. (1345 views)
Tasted by lkilpio on 11/27/2021: This is a very good everyday wine, with lots of fruit, a good structure and an authentic regional character. (1584 views)
Tasted by ElJefeTX on 11/26/2021 & rated 90 points: Double magnum bottle enjoyed by the entire fam for Thanksgiving. Notes of red raspberry, violets, saddle leather and dried herbs. Medium acidity and suede-like tannins. Punches way above its price point. (1376 views)
Tasted by lkilpio on 10/31/2021: Very good for the very affordable price: full-bodied, fruity, intensive and balanced, with nicely rustic notes of herbs and dark fruits. (1310 views)
Tasted by Dravin on 10/19/2021 & rated 83 points: Medium purple in color. Cherry, plum, black pepper, licorice, tomato leaf, floral, and hints of earth on the nose. Tart red raspberry and fresh cranberry on the palate. Smooth tannins, medium acidity, and dry. Black pepper and grape on a medium finish. (864 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 10/16/2021 & rated 87 points: Exactly what I expected, decent fruit, earthy minerals, otherwise simple and smooth. (822 views)
Tasted by Peter Spijker on 8/29/2021 & rated 87 points: Medium to dark purple color. On the nose there is dark fruit. On the palate the fruit is a combination of blackberry, some dark cherry, some light spicy notes. Good acidity and some tannins (but not from oak)/ Finish is medium long and juicy with some easy tannins. This is a good bottle of red for every day (684 views)
Tasted by Joesap on 8/19/2021 & rated 89 points: My Grade: EX-. Needed a couple of hours of air to lose the bubblegum quality to the fruit, but then delivered classic CdR tasting experience. Nice mouth-feel, good structure, solidly made, you're getting a lot for your money here. (664 views)
Tasted by dekevain on 8/4/2021 & rated 88 points: Pale ruby. Raspberry, cherry and some pepper and garrigue on the nose. More of the red fruit and some leather on the palate. Medium acid, tannin and body, medium long finish. Good overall value, correct Côtes du Rhône. (657 views)
Tasted by OaktownRush on 6/1/2021 & rated 87 points: Somewhat lower intensity CdR -- a bit of red fruit and some dry soil on the nose. Some nice fleshy red berries and crushed rock on the palate. Medium acid, some subtle tannins, it's nothing special, but it's the kind of solidly made cheaper wine the world needs more of. For $9, I'm happy. (935 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 5/21/2021 & rated 88 points: Shows red fruit, cassis, and soft oak all in good proportion but it's slightly leaner than the more refined 2017 vintage. Still a very good showing and always a smoking deal. (464 views)
Tasted by houstonjeff@hotmail.com on 5/1/2021 & rated 87 points: Nice everyday wine for a larger party. The guests enjoyed the wine. Not a complex wine. (867 views)
(809 views)
Tasted by Dominic Roy on 4/1/2021 & rated 88 points: Nose: Raspberry. Sour cherries. Strawberries. Medoum intensity.

Palate: Red fruits. Strawberry. Blackberry. Medium to high tannins. Medium acidity. Dry. Medium to full body. Low to medium flavour intensity.

Finish: Herbaceous. Medium. (894 views)
Tasted by JCherniak on 3/26/2021 & rated 88 points: Deep purple colour. Nose of musty raspberry and strawberry. A bit metallic with string tannins, red fruits and a bit of pepper. Finish is lengthy and chewy. (590 views)
Tasted by Mr. Boe on 3/26/2021: This is a good consistent red that pairs with a wide range of dishes. (745 views)
Tasted by inocencio on 3/8/2021 & rated 88 points: Very nice balance of fruit, body, and finish. Fragrant nose of dark and red fruits. Rich, full mouth feel that finishes with good tannin-acid balance. Lost a couple of points for a drab day 2...lost all its fruit freshness. (614 views)
Tasted by Dominic Roy on 2/11/2021 & rated 88 points: Nose: Blackberry. Spices. Pepper. Medium to high aroma intensity.

Palate: Blueberry. Pepper. Raspberry. Medium tannins. Light to medium acidity. Dry. Medium body. Light flavour intensity. Simple.

Finish: Sour cherry. Medium finish. (659 views)
Tasted by Stian Thorgaard on 1/20/2021: The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. It smells like blackberry and black pepper. It tastes like black pepper, leather and blackberry. The body is light/medium. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity. (716 views)
Tasted by ivsimler on 1/3/2021 & rated 85 points: Nice. Fruity. Went with chicken with tomatillos and potatoes. (716 views)
Tasted by ShellyReams on 12/18/2020: So I was worried it’s too young as this was a 2018 but it opened nicely pop and go. Very juicy and fruit forward a bit like really tame cherry and grape juice but better, of course. It’s not complex but great for a $10 bottle at home on a weeknight - or if you are worried about over stimulating your guests with something too bold or complex - you will be fine with this one. And easy to get at Trader Joe’s. (734 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
