Tasted by Wino from Michigan on 4/6/2024 & rated 94 points: Great SB - love this stuff but more

Apricot and acid and crisp and silky - love it (63 views)
Tasted by spendergast on 1/8/2024 & rated 95 points: An excellent SB with notes of green apple, citrus, floral notes, grass clippings and herbs - nicely balanced with good acidity and nice finish. (208 views)
Tasted by Francophile1 on 4/21/2023 & rated 92 points: I’ve been enjoying this wine slowly over the past 3 years. It continues to be one of my favorite Sauv. Blancs. Wonderful floral nose and a citrus flavor profile with prominent notes of grapefruit. Yum! (567 views)
Tasted by spendergast on 4/3/2023 & rated 95 points: This wine continues to drink very well with notes similar to my last tasting 10 months ago: notes of green apple, citrus, floral notes, grass clippings and herbs - nicely balanced. Paired with stir fried Dungeness crab. One of my all time favorite SB. (435 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 8/16/2022 & rated 92 points: Green apple, grapefruit, lemon, lime and crispness (873 views)
Tasted by spendergast on 6/17/2022 & rated 95 points: An amazing sauvignon blanc - notes of green apple, citrus, floral notes, grass clippings and herbs, all in harmonious balance. Nice acidity and lang finish, this wine paired beautifully with crab meat rissoto. This is my first bottle of this vintage and look forward to seeing how it evolves over the next few years. (876 views)
Tasted by Francophile1 on 5/30/2022 & rated 92 points: Up front disclosure… I normally do not like drinking Sauvignon Blanc. However, I would drink this every day if I had enough of it. Similar to my tasting note from Oct. 2020 with the same recommendation to drink this around 50 degrees if you want to taste everything it has to offer. If you serve it too cold, it will deaden the aroma and flavor. This would go great with sushi but I actually think it is best enjoyed by itself while sitting outside on a hot summer day. Frederic Engerer has made some nice improvements to this estate. (936 views)
Tasted by lovemycab on 4/25/2022 & rated 91 points: After loving the last bottle, this one a year later was a bit different.
Lot's of citrus notes especially grapefruit along with notes of grassiness. Overall, nice acidity and balance, but the grapefruit was a bit too pronounced and held this back from being as great as it can be. Will see if an off bottle or a bit more time will balance this back out like the last bottle. (659 views)
Tasted by AB16 on 12/30/2021 & rated 93 points: Light straw color. Alluring nose of grapefruit, citrus, with notes of nz grassiness. In the mouth, very balanced with a wonderful depth of fruit, citrus and great acid. Not over done, great food beverage. This is a winner! (893 views)
Tasted by Wino from Michigan on 11/23/2021 & rated 92 points: Amazing - peach and apricot on nose dry finish / amazing (550 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 10/1/2021 & rated 92 points: Meyer lemon, lime and great acidity and balance (522 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 10/1/2021 & rated 92 points: Crisp and yummy with acidity, lime and lemon (562 views)
Tasted by RobeBro on 8/30/2021 & rated 94 points: As always, one of the best California Sauvignon Blancs. Citrus, peach, floral nose. (551 views)
Tasted by lovemycab on 6/20/2021 & rated 93 points: A year in the bottle has really done wonders. Nice depth of fruit without going over the top. Really enjoyed. (542 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 4/6/2021 & rated 93 points: Nice depth of fruit without being overdone. (808 views)
Tasted by RonniePiemonte on 4/4/2021 & rated 92 points: Lovely aperitif on Easter Sunday. (618 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 2/12/2021 & rated 93 points: Consistent with m prior notes (1024 views)
Tasted by FoinZap on 2/11/2021 & rated 92 points: Very pale yellow in color, with a hint of light green. Tart, citrus-y nose, a slight green note. Palate is pear, lemon peel, a spicy element like clove (?), light- to medium-weight, subtly bitter mid-palate to finish. I did not taste side-by-side with the Eisele SB, but my sense is this is a notch below in terms of integration and balance. Very nice though. (806 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 1/21/2021 & rated 93 points: Ken's High Flying Hermitage (Ken's Castle): Delicious sauvignon blanc. Crisp and refreshing bouquet and palate, with an underlying creaminess on the finish. Stone fruits, cirtus and faint peach on the nose. Crisp acidity, but not linear by any stretch, coats the palate nicely. Really really enjoyed. (1095 views)
Tasted by BrunelloBob on 1/9/2021 & rated 90 points: Liked this. More in the NZ vein, but not overdone, and very long. QPR? (682 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 12/21/2020 & rated 93 points: Delicious sauvignon blanc. Tasting note from memory tried a sip from a bottle consumed by my wife. Crisp and refreshing bouquet and palate, with an underlying creaminess on the finish. Really really good. Could gain appoint or 2 with time in the bottle. (745 views)
Tasted by RobeBro on 11/4/2020 & rated 94 points: Nose of white peaches, rose petals, lemongrass. Pale straw color. Very seductive burst of stone fruits, citrus, with notes of marzipan. Vibrant and fresh, long finish. Looking forward to another bottle. (615 views)
Tasted by Francophile1 on 10/22/2020 & rated 92 points: One of the best bottles of Napa Sauv. Blanc I have ever had. Do not serve it colder than 50 degrees for maximum expression. Kudos to Mr. Engerer and team! Pairs great with sushi. (765 views)
Tasted by RonniePiemonte on 6/19/2020 & rated 94 points: Outstanding tangerine nose. Layered palate with minerals. Smooth and silky. (792 views)

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
