Tasted by Windacre in the Slope on 9/16/2022 & rated 87 points: Nose is sweet with apricots and honey. Dry in the mouth though, not really my jam, bit oaky and astringent. (498 views)
Tasted by wino121 on 5/9/2018 flawed bottle: Old age strikes again. (1393 views)
Tasted by VU83 on 2/19/2015 & rated 88 points: This is a very nice wine, still enjoyable 7 years out although it has lost some of its nose and fruit. Mellow yellow in the glass, nice almost Mosel-like minerality in the middle, decent length. Enjoy this for what it is -- a well-crafted niche blended white -- but don't let it sit 5 more years to become what it will never be. (2624 views)
Tasted by whudock on 11/2/2014 & rated 90 points: complex and elegant. Nice apple, pear and quince fruit, a bit of grapefruit in the back. good depth and pleasant long finish (2743 views)
Tasted by Buckwheet on 10/20/2014 & rated 79 points: Tasted with a group of wine collectors as part of six bottle tasting. It was by far the worst of the six. Nose was off but not corked. Very little fruit left. Not unpleasant but most of us poured it out after giving an hour to see if it would come around. It never did. Too bad. Guess I held this too long. (2817 views)
Tasted by UMhemePA on 9/22/2014 & rated 88 points: deep yellow golden color, viscous, dried fruit on the nose, full mouth feel, coats the tongue and palate. dried apricot. fig notes, very little in the way of minerality. notes have dulled over time.. past prime (2607 views)
Tasted by raiderwes on 2/21/2013: drinking well (3516 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 10/25/2012: Seems over the hill by this point. Not much fruit left. I have 1 more bottle left though, so I'll see if that one is any better. (2529 views)
Tasted by Uglypinga on 3/18/2011: Very perfumed nose, lots of flowers. The palate was very waxy but the flavors understated. Some mild stone fruit was all I could come up with. Clipped finish. Glad I passed. (3996 views)
Tasted by jwalker1140 on 2/15/2011 & rated 89 points: Had to wipe a fair amount of tartrate crystals from the neck. Gorgeous golden color with jasmine and honeysuckle on the nose. Med-full body, tropical fruit and more food-friendly than some may expect of a Turley. An enjoyable novelty purchase but probably wouldn't do again at this price. (4030 views)
Tasted by spc on 11/26/2010 & rated 90 points: Drinking great. A very good turkey and stuffing wine. (4198 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 10/21/2010 & rated 90 points: Supple, with a nice balance of tropical fruit, floral notes, and acidity. Pretty good example of a California white Rhone blend, but not outstanding. (3160 views)
Tasted by Tyler_at_WWD on 9/28/2010 & rated 90 points: White nectarine and delicate white floral tones introduce the aroma. This softness is countered by a firm backbone of deep, crisp minerality. This wine’s nose is complex and full, with interesting combinations of components lime crushed wet stone and light scents of coconut, and an almost steely quality with a faint hint of lime. It’s very interesting, tightly knit, and somewhat of a challenge to define.

The palate is delicate, crisp, and fresh at once. A white floral tone introduces the wine, with fresh peach and a faint hint of bubblegum following right afterward. Vanilla custard and something spicy and baked, almost like pumpkin pie, appear on the mid palate, and mingle with more floral tones, which last into the finish. This is a wonderfully complex, evolving, and incredibly interesting wine. It has a nice balance between fresh lightness and depth, and it’s absolutely a wine worth trying.

Tasted by tdcd@comcast.net on 8/9/2010 & rated 88 points: Opened up nicely. Doesn't overpower a meal. (3217 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 7/21/2010 & rated 90 points: Good tropical notes. A bit fleshy could use more acidity. 08 Qupe Chard/Viognier we had at Zuma was better. (3336 views)
Tasted by MystMrQ on 5/28/2010 & rated 90 points: Honeysuckle/jasmine floral notes with subtle but strong acidic backbone and medium-long finish. An excellent food wine but pleasant enough to be served on its own. Drinking beautifully now, but be sure to serve at cool but not too cold, otherwise the floral notes disappear. (3552 views)
Tasted by BeavisCC on 3/13/2010 & rated 91 points: Big fruit, rich, viscous, very nice! (3800 views)
Tasted by windypinot on 1/1/2010 & rated 87 points: Needs a little time once you open it up; typical california rhone style white blend; acidity/minerality overwhelms the fruit; not worth the price (3675 views)
Tasted by TashNYC on 12/27/2009 & rated 91 points: At Ten Phen (Thai Restaurant) with Jen, Sue, Rex, Ann L, Deni, Linda & Ellen (Point Reyes, CA). I thought this was a terrific rendition of a rhone white: lively and delicious. It was great with my sea bass (thai-style) and pretty good with some of the other food, too. (3756 views)
Tasted by smguth3 on 11/3/2009 & rated 85 points: Little pricey for what it is (4185 views)
Tasted by tourette on 9/26/2009 & rated 92 points: 1st Anniversary (Greens Restaurant): Delicious wine. Tasted of melon and crystals. A wonderful blend indeed, I'd never had anything quite like this. Really luscious mouthfeel. Great pairing to the spinach ricotta ravioli in a chanterelle mushroom and butter sauce. (4420 views)
Tasted by kkleg on 8/3/2009 & rated 92 points: Great bottle of wine. Banana and pineapple notes on the nose and palate; also had notes of wet stone. Medium-length finish. (3992 views)
Tasted by jsokel on 7/19/2009 & rated 92 points: Wonderful full body blend. Started to drink while the bottle was quite cold out of the refrigerator, but much preferred it once it had warmed up into the 40 degree range. (4282 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 7/17/2009 & rated 90 points: OAK, MELONS, PEARS IN THE NOSE AND FLAVOR, ALMOST A BIT RUSTIC. MEDIUM LENGTH FINISH. (452 views)
Tasted by herberto on 5/14/2009 & rated 92 points: Delicious. Brown with a hint of yellow. I actually don't know what is in this blend, but it tasted like a theoretical blend of the stony intensity of a Roussanne/Marsanne Northern Rhone and the flowery delicacy of a Condrieu. Sometimes this doesn't work, and the stones and flowers get jumbled together, but here they compliment each other very well. Turley has produced a great bunch of 2007 wines - really nice. Turley The White Coat

The White Coat (named for Larry’s past career as an Emergency Room physician) is composed of white Rhône grapes from three of our Estate vineyards across California. The rich, textured Roussanne from Rattlesnake Ridge on Howell Mountain in Napa is moderated by acidity and structure provided by the Grenache Blanc grown in the calcareous soils of the Pesenti Vineyard in Paso Robles. Finally, the blend is rounded out with a touch of refreshing, mineral Vermentino (also known as Rolle) from the granitic and quartz-laden Cobb Vineyard in Amador. The result is an exceptional, dynamic white wine that is truly California.

Turley's signature white blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, and Roussanne, all white Rhône grapes. Ripe yellow fruits, candied lemon peel, spiced apple, cantaloupe, honeysuckle, and sun-warmed white stone. A quintessential winter white wine; rich and luscious yet fresh and well-proportioned. Would be exquisite with scallops or spiny lobster, drinking well now at 40°-50°F.

White Rhone Blend

A white wine containing two or more Rhône varieties, including: Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
