Tasted by Wine Sparty on 12/31/2023 & rated 87 points: Really non-descript. Just not much flavor coming through. (132 views)
Tasted by John Nezlek on 3/17/2022 & rated 92 points: Note: I use the recommended scale , so 85 represents a very good wine.

Even better than the previous bottle two months ago.
No funk on this one.

Why can't all Chablis taste like this (or something close)? :-) (519 views)
Tasted by John Nezlek on 1/8/2022 & rated 90 points: Note: I use the recommended scale for ratings.

Very good bottle. Took some time for the "funk" to blow away, but once it did it was an excellent bottle.
Firm acidity balanced with enough fruit. Opened up a bit through the bottle.
I am not certain I recommend decanting, but I would open it an hour or so before serving. (480 views)
Tasted by Madface35 on 5/28/2020 & rated 90 points: A bit big and oaky on the first day but mellowed over the next two to reveal more nice mineral notes but still held weight. Drank alongside the Fourchaume VV which was preferred on the first day due to crispness but the Vaupulans held much better and showed it class with more air. (567 views)
Tasted by liteagilis on 9/12/2019: Just fine. Not better. Lacking in salinity and a hair broad for my taste.
Likely the vintage. (530 views)
Tasted by davidspieker on 8/23/2018 & rated 89 points: Light golden color. Stoney fruit aromas. Rich textured stoney peach flavors with a burnt finish. Lots of character but time to drink. (610 views)
Tasted by winemaker on 5/20/2018 & rated 91 points: This is drinking really well. Easy drinker. Balanced. Refined. (703 views)
Tasted by winemaker on 3/2/2018 & rated 91 points: Drinking well. Acids have softened. Creamy and stony. (700 views)
Tasted by winemaker on 1/6/2018 & rated 93 points: Drinking really well. Mature, layered, complex, minerality, a bit of creamy texture. Way better than a few years ago. (687 views)
Tasted by garambler on 8/13/2017 & rated 90 points: I used my last bottle to cook Cassoulet on 8/13/17 and drank a glass in the process. My notes were the same as those written on 12/22/16. (740 views)
Tasted by garambler on 12/22/2016 & rated 90 points: This had a subtle, focused bouquet of lemon, pear, apple, buttered toast, mineral and spice aromas. The palate was rich with good depth and nicely integrated acidity (none of the sharpness in my 3/6/15 note)…flavors followed the nose. (831 views)
Tasted by chifred on 10/28/2016 & rated 91 points: 54F/PnP. Light yellow. nose with stone, lemon and apricot. Medium wieght with good acid holding it together nicely. Some melon and spice in addition to stone/green apple on the palate. Very nice, transitioning to some age characteristics well. This was a really nice bottle. (740 views)
Tasted by 1961Vintage on 5/1/2016 & rated 91 points: Love the lemon overtones. Nicely balanced and well made. (878 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 3/20/2016: Ok but still tastes of premox
Too much sherry for me (743 views)
Tasted by winemaker on 3/20/2016 & rated 89 points: Drinking well. (944 views)
Tasted by cse on 11/29/2015 & rated 82 points: flabby and past its prime. i've had many wonderful vrignaud chablis but this is not one of them. (664 views)
Tasted by garambler on 3/6/2015 & rated 89 points: We had this after dinner on 3/6/15. It had a very reserved bouquet of lemon, pear, vanilla, buttered toast, mint and spice aromas. The palate was fresh, clean and sharply acidic with flavors of lemon, lime, pear, toast and spice. (919 views)
Tasted by andtheodor on 2/5/2015 & rated 90 points: Bad cork streaked up the side and light seepage so I grabbed it for a Tuesday night dinner. Lemon, cream, spice, fresh acidity, medium weight. A nice surprise and brilliant pair for brined chicken over lemon, olives, onion, & potatoes. (1453 views)
Tasted by Sir Lloyd on 11/27/2014 & rated 88 points: Happy Thanksgiving! Cheers! (1312 views)
Tasted by joraesque on 11/18/2014 & rated 93 points: Was really muted immediately upon opening so I poured it in large Bordeaux/Syrah glasses and the nose started becoming alive after only 5 minutes revealing that amazing fragrance of (very) expensive Chardonnay fruit! The palate then began showing some developments about 10 minutes in, revealing first some notes of damp oak, then rapidly increasing acidity, followed by lime juice notes, saltiness, limestone minerality, and finally grapefruit rind. The flinty limestone then emerged on the nose about 30 minutes in. 80+ minutes after opening the palate started thinning out and the flavors turned grassy, with occasional, boisterous salinity, with some notes of white pepper and nutmeg on the finish, and overall extraordinary balance. Then, close to the 2-hour mark, strong flavors of sherry (preceded by toasty oak and buttery caramel) became dominant, yet they were still exquisitely balanced by buttery (malo) flavors of lemon-lime on the backpalate and finish, joined by a dollop of light spices (nutmeg, white pepper, etc.), and continuing on to a 2+ minutes finish of soft butterscotch . . . and then the bottle was gone.
This was my first Premier Cru Chablis, and a wonderful wine to contemplate. 13% ABV. 92-93+ (1072 views)
Tasted by cadamson on 4/7/2014 & rated 91 points: Crisp, quenching, light and wonderful! Citrus notes, with lots of stone minerality. (1399 views)
Tasted by JPH104 on 2/14/2014: Maybe too young or in a weird place, but came through rich, buttery, and monotone. Will wait some time to revisit. (884 views)
Tasted by 1961Vintage on 6/3/2013 & rated 90 points: Nice and crisp, great fruit base. Classic burgundian style. Very enjoyable (1425 views)
Tasted by cadamson on 4/21/2013 & rated 89 points: Nice spring drinker, probably still a couple years too young. None-the-less, nice lemon and grapefruit notes, good minerality, almost 'stony', with just hints of spice and other minor notes. Very nice 1st cru for the price. (1348 views)
Tasted by Wine Sparty on 1/7/2013 & rated 88 points: Popped and poured with grilled tilapia. Aroma of lemon and minerals. Taste really has the mineral, with some acidity from a hint of lemon. (1364 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio

Chablis

Chablis (Fédération de Défense de l'Appellation Chablis) | Chablis (Burgundy Wines)

2014 Vintage Notes:
"... a hybrid of 2004/2007 and 2010. The stone, citrus and limestone amalgam is exactly what we search for in Chablis as the style harkens to a day in the Cote de Beaune proper (1960's - 1980's) when wine was not meant to be consumed the week it was released, battonage was not used by all and new oak was rarely seen ... the texture is natural and 'of the vintage' not 'of the winemaker' .... Like Sancerre or the Loire in general, 2014 in Chablis is one of those rare years with extract and transparency. It appears to be a vintage for the "neoclassic" ages and those of us intent on cellaring the most terroir-driven (but still powerful) examples of vineyard, site-place and varietal will want to invest (heavily) in the magnetic and electric 2014's." - Jon Rimmerman

2018 Vintage Notes:
"There’s not that razor sharp Chablis acidity in 2018,” says Patrick Piuze. “But there is good definition of place. The dry conditions drove vines to drink deeper down in the soil profile."
