Tasted by redz on 1/7/2017 & rated 89 points: Drinking alone, my third bottle of the night (had to pour the first 2 down the sink, clearing out some older drinkers). This one's holding up nicely, solid syrah (1435 views)
Tasted by Tsliwinski on 7/13/2016 & rated 88 points: Harmonious, dark fruits up front with soft ending tannins (1735 views)
Tasted by Stroz on 3/26/2016 & rated 86 points: Still drinkable but past its prime for this wine.
It was stored in a climate controlled wine cellar. (1977 views)
Tasted by Lovingthevine on 1/25/2014 & rated 93 points: Wonderful red color. Strong fruity flavor at first that softens 30 minutes after decanting. Great compliment to hearty foods like beef stew.

Tasted by danielgtg on 2/16/2013 & rated 89 points: Skøn skøn vin. Avanceret Shiraz og pigernes absolutte ynglings rødvin. (6016 views)
Tasted by BuffaloLou on 8/24/2012 & rated 91 points: Enjoyed this at a restaurant. Loved it! BIG fruit flavor balanced with nice acidity. Very food friendly. (6182 views)
Tasted by chairmanschoice on 8/4/2012 & rated 89 points: just opened it to enjoy /w/ braised moroccan lamb dish...it is balanced, jammy and smokey...you know it is a cali production...it is very pleasant...not my style...my benchmark for syrah is st. cosme...this wine will have its fans...im drinking it...see what happens in a couple of hours...the alcohol does spike on the finish...oh boy...15.5 percent... (5956 views)
Tasted by Mark3548 on 5/12/2012 & rated 90 points: Decanted for an hour. Lost some fruit but gained complexity over the next hour. Big wine, lots of smoke and game up front to balance the fruit, more spice and earth later. I like wines that some consider over the top and enjoyed this from start to finish. (6249 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 4/23/2012 & rated 88 points: A huge nose of candied dark fruit, dark black purple in color. A very big Syrah, with black licorice, juicy dark berries flavors, candied fruit and spice, just a little overdone . (4406 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 4/6/2012 & rated 87 points: A huge nose of candied dark fruit, dark black purple in color. A over the top huge Syrah, with black licorice, mocha, juicy dark berries flavors, not for the faint of heart, a bit over done, WE got carried away on this one. (3263 views)
Tasted by BSZach1 on 3/28/2012 & rated 85 points: Very Good. Little smokey. Little BBQ-ish. Little jammy. Fun BBQ wine. (2884 views)
Tasted by LeChapeau on 3/23/2012 & rated 91 points: The nose is not the main event here. It's pleasant, with notes of blackberry, vanilla, and a few interesting earthy edges. But when it hits the palate it explodes. This is a thick, rich, tooth-stainer with beautiful flavors of dark fruits and exotic spices. Lots of tannins that indicate this may be worthy of some serious aging, although its a joy to drink right now. A wonderful example of what a fruit forward west coast wine can be at its best. (2936 views)
Tasted by Spunk on 3/18/2012 & rated 88 points: - Brick color and aromas of smokey and blackberry and has flavours of smokey, blackberry and alcohol - Nice big Syrah (2985 views)
Tasted by imissjerry on 3/16/2012 & rated 90 points: Well this wine definitely TASTED like Syrah, i will give it that. It was nice. It wasn't blow doors amazing. The nose was full of rich dark fruit, Plum, blackberry and cocoa powder on the nose. Very lush, some smoke, a bit of tar, not much, again more darkness, plummy with a bit of jamminess. I would buy thsi wine again. (2948 views)
Tasted by hubas on 3/5/2012 & rated 88 points: A very dark wine with lots of tannins. A very impressive syrah (3076 views)
Tasted by GT Poquoson on 2/20/2012 & rated 92 points: Very nice complex wine for the money. Needs a LONG decanting - like 4 hours. And better at 6.

Was the favorite (and last) of 5 wines tasted at a GT wine tasting.

Striking aroma of dark fruits. with tobacco too. Taste had dark berries and a very long finish. (3133 views)
Tasted by Jberger on 1/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Excellent full bodied wine! (3684 views)
Tasted by rjdoan on 12/25/2011 & rated 91 points: Deep color silky in the mouth. Deep berries and maybe a touch of tobacco and vanilla. Nice finish. Oak tones and mature fruit linger. (3795 views)
Tasted by DanielJ on 12/22/2011 & rated 85 points: It wasn't spit out bad. Just really flat and not very interesting. (3784 views)
Tasted by rjdoan on 12/16/2011 & rated 91 points: Dark enticing color and a nose of deep fruit. Silky in the mouth with complex flavors the continue to entice and excite with each mouthful. Plum and a hint of vanilla. Good finish. (3861 views)
Tasted by bjamesclark on 11/26/2011 & rated 89 points: Very dark and inky purple showing high concentration and high viscosity.
On the nose concentrated plum and prune notes, with toasted star anise, violets, smoke and a strong presence of sweet vanilla and caramelized sugar. The palate is big and full with plenty of oak laced fruit flavors of blackberry jam, ripe dark plums, black licorice and a soft spice throughout. pleasant finish but seems to be tight at this point, and a little over the top. (4159 views)
Tasted by maxmanx on 10/10/2011 & rated 91 points: Rich, full bodied, smoky. Delicious. Left overnight in the decanter (by mistake), and still excellent. This thing can age! (4610 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 10/8/2011 & rated 88 points: Lodi's Treasure Island Wine Fest (Pavilion by the Bay, Treasure Island, San Francisco, California): Very dark purple red violet color; roasted plum, tart black fruit nose; roasted plum, tart black fruit palate; needs 2-plus years; medium-plus finish (4642 views)
Tasted by hubas on 9/3/2011 & rated 92 points: Very dark in color alot of concentrated berries and some herbal notes, also some liquorice in the finish. A very nice wine. (4334 views)
Tasted by small_cellar on 7/28/2011 & rated 88 points: Drank after decanting one hour. ON THE NOSE: Very hot and alcoholic on the nose but not totally unpleasant. Very nice notes of dark berry, melon, and pipe tobacco; but, the heat is obscuring these a bit more than I'd like. ON THE PAL: BIIIIG flavor. Starts out very "fruitbomby" and then goes completely old world on you! All of a sudden here comes some serious earthiness. Medium tannins, and a sweet finish. This is, if nothing else, very diverse you get a little bit of both worlds of Syrah in each sip. Also, excellent QPR at around $15-20. Not the best I've ever had, not even close, but a damn solid wine! 88. (4514 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
