Tasted by cj.haaland on 5/8/2016 & rated 90 points: At first strong minerality and lemon grass on the nose, after it opens more you find honey and grapefruit with a little pear .
Nice straw color with grapefruit and lemon notes ending with honey and pear. (1906 views)
Tasted by difran on 7/6/2015 & rated 84 points: The wine has low acidity. It smells like lemon, grapefruit and apple. The wine finishes medium. It tastes like peach, lemon and pear. The wine looks straw colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. The wine has flabby texture. (2829 views)
Tasted by noaagirl on 5/17/2015: Chilled on a warm spring day, this was all lemon up front:curd, merengue, verbena. After warming a touch, the minerality came though. With a little peppadew and goat cheese, the surprising sweetness mellowed and you got the more mineral notes. Clearly a very ripe Sav Blanc, really enjoyable on the deck in warm weather. (2594 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/13/2015: Ripe and exotic - apricot, peach, over ripe pear, toasty spices. I like it. I can understand why others think its overdone. (2760 views)
Tasted by gkrueger on 2/23/2015 & rated 90 points: A touch of citrus, lemon and a bit of honey. Very nice for the price. (2795 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 2/8/2015 & rated 88 points: Fun stuff with minerals, floral, tropical fruit and subtle grass note. Have not had a US SB in a while and might have to revisit. (1415 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 2/7/2015 & rated 90 points: Red Burgs (Wayzata, MN): Pale straw color. Very small pour. Just had enough to get interested in this SB. A interesting blend of 85% sauvignon blanc, 11% sauvignon gris and 4% sauvignon musque, this was pretty nice. The nose is quite bright showing grapefruit, cat pee, lychee, lime, and herbs. The palate has citrus, gooseberry, mineral, cat pee, lime, and an herbal note, bright clean and lively. (1314 views)
Tasted by sunalsorises on 1/16/2015 flawed bottle: May be an off bottle. Not much acidity showing. Flat. (658 views)
Tasted by Kskels on 8/30/2014 & rated 84 points: Very sweet, no hint of dryness. Good nose, but too sugary. (997 views)
Tasted by catlady on 6/15/2014 & rated 89 points: Really interesting sauvignon blanc with layers of taste but easy to drink (878 views)
Tasted by sunalsorises on 6/15/2014 & rated 91 points: Nice balance. Lemony with a good mouthfeel. (934 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/18/2014: The shocking thing is how much the Zalto white wine glass changed it. I mean, it was always big boy SB made in a style but in the Zalto white wine it was explosively mineral, shining and brilliant, like a really loud orchestra. Not sure that means its for everyone but it was certainly dramatic. (1092 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/11/2014: I think my drinking is bring on spring. Delicious, robust, powerful. Didn't even get chilled by the time Randy and I pounded it off. (1067 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/8/2014: Gives it all up on day two. Maybe I'll open the bottle 24 hours early next time. (797 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/7/2014: Wow. Front and cellar nails it. Big texture, powerful aromas, massive structure and for all that, great drinking. (710 views)

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
