Community Tasting Notes (average 85.8 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by LiquidThoughts.de on 12/28/2023 & rated 86 points: ENGLISH:
Nose: With a little time, the nose opens up from rather monotonous citrus notes to passion fruit, some grapefruit and vanilla, as well as coconut notes
Taste: Present, lemon, green apple, you notice a clearer woody note from the start and vanilla/coconut shavings, not just in the finish or occasionally flashing, but from front to back, light nuts
Finish: The most distinctive of the finishes so far, which is probably due to the barrel ageing, drier, more acidic than the others, citrus peel, a hint of mint, not complex, rather a short bang
Comment: I have to say, of all the wines here on the entry-level Chardonnay tasting, it took the most time to really develop in the glass. Initially quite aggressive wood vs lemon impression, the finer notes only came out after 20-30 minutes and it became more balanced.

ORIGINAL (GERMAN):
(89 views)
Tasted by Vin for sjov on 3/1/2022 & rated 63 points: Alt for dominerende smag af Bourbon. Giver forjet sødme og manglende friskhed. Mer sjov end god (641 views)
Tasted by NapaCabSavLover on 9/1/2021 & rated 88 points: Fruit on the nose.Creamy mouth feel. Vanilla, toasted notes. Weeknight pasta. (908 views)
Tasted by debauCHARy on 6/25/2021 & rated 81 points: Easy and drinkable. Nice on a warm evening (902 views)
Tasted by Swest on 5/14/2021 & rated 89 points: Oak and citrus nose. Melon and citrus are prominent with notes of saline, oak and vanilla followed by light citrus acidity and light tannin. Bourbon barrel appears as a butter caramel note but the finish is oaky. (926 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
