This opens up and becomes more pleasant with some air.
Decanted 45 minutes, nice minerals, dark fruit, a but of funk, perhaps a hint of ripe boysenberries. The nose transfers to the palate. This is nice and elegant in the mouth. Some soft tannins and a spritz of acidity on the midpalate. I agree with other tasters that this is a nice old world profile.
I don't have much experience with wines from Languedoc, but I don't see this improving with more cellar time. Drink up! A good amount of dark fruit, leather, and horse sweat. Not bad for 11$ and free shipping. (1714 views) | | Tasted by NickG on 3/4/2008: Classic southern French nose of dark fruit, herbs, and spice. On the palate, similar southern French flavors, bolstered by medium acidity. Seems a bit lightweight though, a perception accentuated by the lack of any integrated tannins. Decent, but nothing special. (1713 views) |
