Tasted by mtarrant003 on 1/24/2021 & rated 90 points: Our last bottle of this wine and the triumvirate of Spinifex wines we've enjoyed over the last 2-3 years. These have all been fantastic wines that are in great shape at around 15 years of age and have been excellent value for money.

Chocolate, espresso, cedar, blackberry and plum on the nose. Smooth on the palate with flavours of stewed plums, chocolate, spice and vanilla. Medium finish. Paired well with hard cheese and also great by itself. (288 views)
Tasted by mtarrant003 on 12/6/2020 & rated 90 points: Spice, chocolate, espresso, cedar and plum on the nose. Smooth on the palate with flavours of sweet cooked blackberry, chocolate, spice and vanilla. Medium finish. Paired well with cheese and also great by itself. Very enjoyable, plenty of life ahead of it. (252 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 8/20/2020 & rated 86 points: I’ll be honest, never heard of Shiraz Viognier. Lovely nose of earth, dark cherries, and tar. After that there wasn’t much. No discernible flavors on the palate and short finish. Did get better with some air, but was really lacking in many areas. (364 views)
Tasted by mtarrant003 on 7/16/2020 & rated 91 points: Incredibly dark staining purple in appearance with no visible signs of ageing. Cooked black fruits and spice on the nose. Smooth but powerful on the palate with blackberries, plum, cedar and tobacco flavours, a certain amount of sweetness from the fruit but also lovely freshness from the Viognier in the blend. The wine is fresh with good acidity and soft tannins. Medium to medium-long finish. Drunk over dinner with roast chicken. (297 views)
Tasted by mtarrant003 on 5/13/2020 & rated 91 points: Lots of dark cooked fruit on the nose along with Christmas cake. Very smooth on the palate with dark cooked fruits, cedar and tobacco but also lovely freshness from the 6% viognier in the blend. The wine remains fresh with good acidity and mellow tannins. Medium finish. Very enjoyable and plenty of time left for those who have the patience. (302 views)
Tasted by mtarrant003 on 1/12/2020 & rated 91 points: Clear and bright in appearance with no signs of ageing. Fruity on the nose with that extra lift from the 6% viognier in the blend. Smooth and supple on the palate with lots of dark fruits, cedar, vanilla and tobacco. The wine is fresh with good acidity and the tannins are mellow. The wine has a medium finish. I would expect this to develop more secondary and tertiary character over the next five years or so. Decanted an hour prior to lunch and drunk with roast lamb. (242 views)
Tasted by Will Devize on 4/22/2013 & rated 92 points: Tense and virile. Packed full of chocolate, espresso and silky layers of berry fruits yet underpinned by a beefy helping of scorched earth and minerals. Undoubtedly a well-made, powerhouse of a wine. A bit young at the mo. (1956 views)
Tasted by wetlandwino on 11/28/2010 & rated 88 points: I must say that I was disappointed in this wine, based on what I was expecting. Maybe I did not give it enough time in the cellar or in the decanter. The wine was quite closed and the mildly tannic and acidic finish was not balanced with fruit. I really wonder if this wine will get better with age - its got the tannin, but not much else.
On the plus side, it went relatively well with a spicy gumbo during a fine Thanksgiving dinner. (2043 views)
Tasted by JonathanP on 7/29/2010 & rated 90 points: Opened but not decanted for 2 hours before drinking. A brambly nose of red raspberries, black fruits, rose petals and a hint of oak. Nice. Palate is quite tight with powdery tannins. Acid structure a little sharp but lends the wine a nice focused length. Not hot. There is definately potential for a higher grade in the future.  Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 1/1/2010: Crammed full of summer berries and rich blood plums, this is a wine that is distinctly Barossan yet with good restraint and nice floral and earth detail. There are notes of chocolate, coffee and tar and it is plush of mouthfeel with an energetic lick of acidity on the finish. (1887 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 10/14/2009: Aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, blood plum and violets. Big bold and rich in the mouth without being too heavy. There’s a refreshing thread of light botanicals and a hit of savoury nuances to counter the plush and textured fruit. (1808 views)
