Community Tasting Notes (average 90.6 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 6 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by ProfByron on 5/30/2020 & rated 90 points: Adding to my previous note, it’s noticeably a syrupy style which may fade with age. But the flavours are nice, black currents of course, but that savoury touch of olive is good, necessary. (724 views)
Tasted by ProfByron on 2/27/2020 & rated 89 points: Lifted fruit, herbal, touch of olive. Nice nose.

Fresh, med weight, grippy finish. It treads the line between fruit sweetness and savoury quite well.

A bit tamarillo. As some Margaret River cabernets can be. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamarillo

It’s still a food wine, as it should be.

13.8%, screwcap (728 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 3/10/2018: {screwcap, 13.8} Deep ruby. Olive, bay leaf, basil. Chocolately richness, but always with a curranty, black-tinged leafy cabernet note. Palate is predictable after the nose, but also has medium fine dusty tannins, and some fresh acid. Still has a fairly dense quality though. Medium-weight. Subtle oak. Does finish a little on the warm side. Fills out the palate quite well. Should age well enough for 5-8 years. Priced around A$35, which is perhaps a bit rich for what it is. Just a bit. (1254 views)
Tasted by michael_cooke on 2/2/2018 & rated 91 points: Enjoyed this much more than my last bottle six months ago.
Dark, youthful appearance.
Capsicum, bay leaf, olive, camphor, dark chocolate, graphite
Medium bodied, acid present but well balanced
Tannin are still very grippy but have a nice polish
Drink now or hold

Bruce Dukes career dates back over 25 years, its foundations built around a degree in agronomy from the University of WA, followed by a master's degree in viticulture and agronomy from the University of California, Davis thence to a four-year stint at Francis Ford Coppola's iconic Niebaum-Coppola winery in the Napa Valley. Back in WA he worked with a consultancy and contract winemaking business in Margaret River in 2000. The winery was set up to handle small and large amounts of fruit, but it was not until 2012 that he moved to set up his own winemaking business. Exports to the UK and Canada. Author: James Halliday

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon
