Community Tasting Notes (average 91.6 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 58 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by ShadowIII on 5/26/2024 & rated 92 points: Step up from the 2018, pears, apples, citrus notes, spice, hint of vanilla, nice acidity, long finish (6 views)
Tasted by air guitar & pinot noir on 1/1/2024 & rated 92 points: I like the way this Chardonnay has evolved over a number of vintages. It used to be very acidic and citrus dominated. In recent vintages I get more orchard fruit and stone fruit, and a bit less acidity. Seems to be more in balance and inviting. A bit of sandalwood or balsa along with the fruit. Very enjoyable but QPR is not there compared to other reasonably priced offerings. (686 views)
Tasted by Snag One on 9/7/2023 & rated 92 points: My earlier notes still apply. (740 views)
Tasted by gpcoleman on 5/5/2023 & rated 90 points: Overpriced for quality. (960 views)
Tasted by Mortgage92 on 4/15/2023 & rated 92 points: Drink now...or at least in the next 1 - 2 years in order for this wine to peak. Flavors and aromas are balanced along with the acidity and alcohol content. (877 views)
Tasted by Mortgage92 on 3/2/2023 & rated 92 points: I agree with everyone else....this is a nice sipping chard with flavors of honeydew melon and pears with a slight lemon. I believe this wine has more life...hold another 2 years. (1039 views)
Tasted by krhaugh on 11/28/2022 & rated 93 points: Always a great Chard with oak and butter. Just the way I like it. (1190 views)
Tasted by Gruffalius on 11/24/2022 & rated 91 points: Don’t like Chardonnay but this is solid. Lemony citrus. (763 views)
Tasted by Snag One on 11/22/2022 & rated 92 points: Light golden color. Essence of green apples, pears, hibiscus, honeydew melon and white peaches. Nice mouthfeel and layers of pears, green apples, white peaches and light citrus fruit. (688 views)
Tasted by spendergast on 8/1/2022 & rated 93 points: A nice chard with notes of apple, citrus, honeysuckle, well balanced with good acidity. (1260 views)
Tasted by wino_tim on 6/20/2022 & rated 90 points: Pale yellow. An appealing and fresh though very straightforward nose, offers aromas of both green and yellow apples, baked pear tart, underripe pineapples, lemons, citrus blossoms and just a small touch of toast and oak spice. On the palate this is just medium bodied with medium+ acidity, it is brighter and leaner and crisper than the nose suggests, with lively green apple flavors. I'm not sure this is worth its asking price, but it is tasty. (1071 views)
Tasted by mdmcgonigal on 4/30/2022 & rated 93 points: Wonderful lighter Chardonnay with a pleasantly musty nose and lightly acidic flavors. Very nice! (1019 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 8/6/2021 & rated 91 points: Light in color but rich in flavor. Touch of butter and citrus with good acidity. (2726 views)
Tasted by mydi on 6/26/2021 & rated 90 points: Very nice somewhat buttery Chardonnay. Had with baked sole. (1987 views)
Tasted by happy712 on 6/19/2021 & rated 93 points: Elegant Chardonnay with classic California profile yet hints of Burgundian style. Drink after 10 minutes in the glass. Goes with mushrooms, buttered bread, or cheese. (1738 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 5/13/2021 & rated 91 points: beautiful delicate new world Chardonnay
touch of oak touch of tropical fruit touch of earth
all chardonnay should taste this good (1948 views)
Tasted by thoughtdujour on 5/4/2021 & rated 93 points: Fresh / Stone fruit / Medium Acidity / (960 views)
Tasted by bsmall on 5/4/2021 & rated 93 points: elegant, balanced--luscious after it warmed ... (1734 views)
Tasted by dcp1204 on 4/24/2021 & rated 93 points: i thought it really sang sang after being open a couple of hours. Like the balance. (967 views)
Tasted by fcf3 on 4/10/2021 & rated 90 points: Melon, Meyer lemon and wet stone. Lean with a short finish. Perfectly nice Chardonnay but perhaps a little underwhelming for the price point and prestige of the winery. (1004 views)
Tasted by jkvedar on 3/19/2021 & rated 90 points: Perfectly good Chardonnay, but it doesn’t wow me. Ripe apple, pear, melon on the nose. Well-balanced and somewhat lean on the palate. Finish tails off pretty quickly

I stuck this in the fridge for about a week and it is showing really well tonight. Gives me pause for thought on any ctritics tasting notes (1303 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
