really quite good for a Zin (527 views)
Tasted by swigna on 3/6/2016 & rated 91 points: 6 of wife's girlfriends drank this. They loved it. (4194 views)
Tasted by Z1nnfull on 2/23/2016 & rated 92 points: Completely lives up to its reviews and ratings. Can't say that about many wines. This is what superb Zin used to taste like 20 years ago, the spice, the mouth-filling red fruit. Best bottle of wine we have had so far in 2016 and it is DRINK NOW status...we let it breathe a tad but did not see the need to decant and that was definitely the case. Highly recommend. (3995 views)
Tasted by Birorganic on 2/5/2015 & rated 90 points: Good fruity Zin. Bought at a restaurant. (5045 views)
Tasted by monk1019 on 1/6/2015 & rated 90 points: Opened for a delicious Italian feast of pasta w pesto, hot sausage and meatballs. What a perfect compliment of spice, wood and character. Smooth, almost sweet silky tannins and ripe rich black fruits. Waiting on the 2012 for a bit. (5155 views)
Tasted by fatch on 12/25/2014 & rated 90 points: Opened to a smooth, subtle spice juicy pleasure that even red wine haters loved.. (4859 views)
Tasted by Bhydvm on 12/18/2014 & rated 93 points: Excellent food wine....broad and full with dark berries and some spice...one of my faves for the price. (2130 views)
Tasted by BobMilton on 12/3/2014 & rated 92 points: Typical Rombauer - big and jammy. Goes well with hearty foods. (2117 views)
Tasted by LCHammer on 11/16/2014 & rated 96 points: Gina's rating. (1343 views)
Tasted by patsox on 10/6/2014 & rated 91 points: Full blown but with just enough balance not to be over blown. Great with grilled steak. (1438 views)
Tasted by vino_per_tutti on 8/22/2014 & rated 91 points: Second bottle consistent with first. Nose and palate remarkably the same as last time: plum, black fruit and oak dominate. Round, soft finish. Sweet, but not treacly. (1558 views)
Tasted by WineWright on 8/18/2014 & rated 90 points: Who spiked the Welch's? Big sweet and jammy. Fruit bombardier, AKA, "mommy juice". Of course I liked it. How much more easy and accessible can a wine be? My 3 year old would have loved it in her sippy cup. This is a friendly wine. (1511 views)
Tasted by Jump29 on 4/22/2014 & rated 89 points: Enjoyed with ham for Easter Dinner. Very solid and excellent QPR but is a bit sweet and not spicy/devilish enough (for my tastes) to command current average rating of 91.7. (2144 views)
Tasted by fifisoda on 3/23/2014 & rated 90 points: A little hot at 15.9% but a great jammy ZIN nonetheless (2203 views)
Tasted by Jwd12 on 2/23/2014 & rated 91 points: Distinctive jammy taste- don't know of anything quite like it. Completely mouth filling think it should be drunk w/o food such a vibrant flavor it needs nothing (1800 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 2/23/2014: Nose - vitamin c capsules. Has that sort of smell
Mouth - superbly ripe, deep berry, some wil love. In fact I quite liked this inspire of it's being very over the top (2063 views)
Tasted by BobMilton on 2/17/2014 & rated 92 points: usual very good jammy Zin. Went we'll with steak. If you don't like big, jammy Zins, avoid this! (1869 views)
Tasted by Jziulkowski on 2/1/2014 & rated 95 points: Consistently delicious. Fruit forward. One of my favorites. (1749 views)
Tasted by Jziulkowski on 1/15/2014 & rated 95 points: This is an outstanding wine. Fruit forward, nice finish. (1881 views)
Tasted by cucycling on 12/8/2013 & rated 91 points: Final wine of a holiday party, paired with butterscotch carmel in chocolate cups. A wonderful smooth rich finale. (1954 views)
Tasted by vino_per_tutti on 11/22/2013 & rated 92 points: PnP'd. Brambly nose of blackberry, plum and new oak. Palate characteristically sweet and full-bodied: plum, black fruit and vanilla. Medium finish. Crowd pleaser. Better integrated on Day 2. (2003 views)
Tasted by cucycling on 10/1/2013 & rated 91 points: Really enjoying this more than first bottle of 2011...a bit of spice, jammy and nice. (2317 views)
Tasted by pmilne on 8/23/2013 & rated 90 points: This vintage is typical Rombauer Zin - yes it's fruit forward with a little complexity. It is a crowd pleaser. I like having a bottle of this around when I open some really good stuff - keeps the casual drinkers away from the good stuff as they can't resist this. (2406 views)
Tasted by RKBergman on 7/30/2013 & rated 92 points: Color: Dark ruby hue
Nose: The aromas we could smell were ripe cranberries, blackberries, raspberries with hints of spice and mint.
Palate: Ripe dark fruit flavors not overly jammy
Finish: Very smooth and nice medium bodied finish:
Decanting: Tasted from the bottle and it plenty of tannins. Used Vinturi to pour into glasses and it greatly helped it to open up and balance out.
Thoughts: First time we have tried this wine and it was outstanding. once it got some air it really balanced out and was quite delicious. We paired with food which was a wise choice. Will look for more to put into our cellar. (2142 views)
Tasted by cucycling on 7/29/2013 & rated 91 points: upon revisiting another bottle I enjoyed the richness and velvet like feel on the palate, it does finish with a little heat though. This wine could almost be desert. (1897 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
