Tasted by jlgnml on 6/30/2023 & rated 93 points: Great on a hot summer night watching Santana. (326 views)
Tasted by sstein19 on 8/1/2021 & rated 95 points: Copper in color. Really surprising how much the color has evolved. Nose of caramel. Lots of it. Orange blossom, almond, and yeast round out the nose. Really smooth. Caramel and candied lemon flavors. (873 views)
Tasted by qtsam11 on 1/2/2021 & rated 96 points: Loved this four years ago, love it even more now. A perfect pink/copper color, poured with a creamy mousse. Wonderfully yeasty and nutty on the nose. Honey crisp apples, meyer lemon and strawberries compliment the nutty, fresh baked bread flavors. As good of a bottle of bubbly that I've ever had. (1032 views)
Tasted by EpochMD on 12/10/2020 & rated 97 points: Peaches, ripe strawberry, brandy, outstanding. Enamored with this guy - has all of the right stuff and drinking majestically. 97 (1232 views)
Tasted by qtsam11 on 12/25/2016 & rated 94 points: Wow, one of the best sparklers I've ever had. Been sitting on this for three years and it has been a treat for sure. Nutty, toasted brioche, peach, and pear. Not too acidic or tart, and certainly not sweet, just well balanced. A pinkish caramel color, almost like a fine cognac. I wish I had more of these, what a fantastic wine. (2621 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 3/12/2016: This is fantastically good. The nose is explosive with strawberry, raspberry, hints of lees, and floral notes. The palate is creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. Beautiful finish. Schramsberg makes world class sparkling wine and this is the best wine I have tasted of theirs. (2585 views)
Tasted by beitopod on 2/16/2016 & rated 90 points: Strawberry notes with bake Apple backbone. (2159 views)
Tasted by eoinhharkins on 2/15/2015 & rated 94 points: Terrific sparkling, one of the best I have had outside of champagne, offers an array of flavours - fresh strawberry, raspberry liqueur, some nice brioche and earthy undertones, decent persistence of fruit on the palate with medium plus acidity and fine effervescence (2875 views)
Tasted by aschie30 on 11/27/2014 & rated 90 points: Drinking well now but not much longer--round, red fruit makes it easy to guzzle (2838 views)
Tasted by Rich Storm on 8/22/2014 & rated 93 points: - Pink color with small pearls - Celebrate Mandy's 40th birthday, served with cake, wine was simply delicious..... (2102 views)
Tasted by Jscalia on 6/28/2014 & rated 92 points: Heaven. This was a magnificent wine. Pale salmon in color, intense berry fruit for a sparkler. Intense bubbles. (1587 views)
Tasted by Barry Notes on 4/14/2014: My favorite domestic sparkler producer but this stuff was weird. Served very cold. Dark straw color w/slight pink edge when swirled. Weak, short, tiny bubble stream that went flat fast. Nose and initial taste was extreme oak, toasted/burnt toast, yeast. Ripe plum, red/dark cherry, very dry. Changed dramatically with time to less oak, milder toast, grapefruit, citrus, big acid and sharp tartness. Ended with pear and less tart. Hard to belive it was the same wine. Disliked at first, better after 30 minutes. Not sure I would buy again and nothing like their other labels. (1776 views)
Tasted by schott on 4/11/2014 & rated 90 points: This was a very complex sparkling wine. The initial nose and taste were overwhelmingly yeasty and oak forward. Fine bubble streams that dissipated relatively quickly. Straw to light pink color. The second half of the bottle revealed a much more integrated, softer, and fruity wine. The score reflects an average of a lower score for the initial taste to a higher score later. Overall, probably not worth the premium to Schramsberg's excellent brut rose in my opinion. (1252 views)
Tasted by Heynetty on 4/2/2014 & rated 90 points: A: Fine mousse and salmon.
N: Pencil shavings and raspberry
P: Raspberry, bright red apples, orange marmalade, orange rind and JTH also gets nuts.
C: High acidity and light red fruit. Interesting tropical angle too. Dryer than the Schramsberg Brut Rose.

Very respectable. I like the concentration. (532 views)
Tasted by pipegarcia on 2/20/2014 & rated 96 points: Light pink strawberry body. Dense. Aromas of frosting cake, nuts and apple. Nice and round. (1286 views)
Tasted by Russ Bus on 2/17/2014 & rated 93 points: Prominent autolytic notes with beautiful balance of red summer fruits and acidity. Love it. (1107 views)
Tasted by jlgnml on 2/10/2014 & rated 93 points: Light strawberry color, super deep concentrated nose, slight bitter finish which wore off in the glass which we drank out of a Burgundy glass. Needs more time to age and will revisit the other 3 bottles in years to come. (987 views)
Tasted by haldolugr on 1/1/2014 & rated 92 points: The nose was a hot mess and didn't match the flavor. In the mouth it was cherry, lemon, and peach. Nice and fruity but with a good crisp finish. Delicious. (969 views)
Tasted by ssspore on 1/1/2014 & rated 93 points: We love Schramsberg and love their limited releases of J Schram brut rose but We where a bit concerned about this vintage. The only wine from them we have not enjoyed was 2005 J Shram. This one was way better. Beautiful light Strawberry color. Nose of white peach at first then raspberry candy ginger and hint of almond. Mild aftertaste great finish. Still acidic for its age. I bet could age several more years. Glad we have another bottle. Will revisit in 2020. (965 views)
Tasted by eschaefer on 11/27/2013 & rated 93 points: J Schram is a flagship, world-class sparkler. First time we have had the rose. Beautiful. biscuit, baking spices, and dried apple with a smooth finish. tiny bubbles look great in the glass, and as it warmed it tasted even better. (991 views)
Tasted by crodcpa on 9/15/2013: Tasting Notes
“The 2005 J. Schram Rosé shows identifying characteristics of the cool growing season. The aroma is generous and bright with fresh strawberry, Mandarin orange and ripe cherry, followed by nuances of lemon custard, and toasted almond. Flavors of raspberry and cherry are complemented by Ruby Red grapefruit, Meyer lemon and apricot. The palate finishes with lingering flavors of candied ginger and roasted hazelnut. The texture is both viscous and mouthwatering with a long and savory acidity.” – Winemakers Keith Hock and Hugh Davies (1103 views)

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
