Tasted by madvitale on 12/13/2021 & rated 86 points: Pleasant, but not up to the expectations I had for Sebastiani, Alexander Valley. (841 views)
Tasted by artp on 1/5/2020 & rated 91 points: The 2012 took 2 days to open. The 2013 should be good late 2020. The 2013 bottle in February 2021 is delicious. (1542 views)
Tasted by Ken332 on 8/17/2019 & rated 90 points: Throwing a lot of sediment. As noted in a previous review: "Intense cassis fruit up front with leather and wood, touch of alcohol (14.7%) in the mid-range, and a good, moderately long finish." Should hold and improve for 10 years or more. (1650 views)
Tasted by Ken332 on 1/14/2019 & rated 90 points: This is my second bottle of this wine, the first this year. Intense cassis fruit up front with leather and wood, touch of alcohol (14.7%) in the mid-range, and a good, moderately long finish. Double decanted about an hour before serving and served with grilled T-bone steak. This is a very good Sebastiani Cabernet that I had previously rated at 88 in 2017. The Wine Advocate initially gave it 92 points, which is probably about right when it evolves a bit more. (1951 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 1/5/2019 & rated 88 points: Fairly typical offering from Alexander Valley. Lots of red fruit, raspberry and cherry with a hint of pepper and spice. A little too much vanilla on the finish for me but a solid wine at a decent ($35) price point. (1931 views)
Tasted by Canoehead on 4/26/2018 & rated 90 points: PnP - classic Cali Cab nose - lots of dark red fruit (cassis, etc) with a some spice and sweet vanilla. Fruit and vanilla on the palate. This wine is almost too soft from some heavy handed oak. Would like a little more complexity and a little more racy acidity and a tannic grip on the finish. Very smooth product. Will please the mainstream Cali Cab crowd. (2058 views)
Tasted by AlphaL on 4/10/2018 & rated 91 points: A really nice wine. Dark ink in color. Medium body with nice tannins and good blend of acidity. Mid palate dark fruit with cassis and chocolate.
The finish is medium. (1489 views)
Tasted by jerrysvino on 3/18/2018 & rated 92 points: Big cab for Alex Valley. Deep color, Soft tannins, fruit, excellent aftertaste (1202 views)
 Tasted by garvey888 on 12/23/2017 & rated 93 points: Very smooth,cellar for a bit (1265 views)
Tasted by YankeeRobio on 8/31/2017 & rated 93 points: Very nice wine from a great AVA. Sebastiani has always done great wine from the Alexander Valley. Dark fruit (blueberry, marionberry) with a tiny bit of bite and pepper on the end. Love this wine, especially great QPR. (1756 views)
Tasted by OWC on 7/23/2017 & rated 91 points: Surprisingly good once again. Focused beam of oaky vanilla with a touch of sweetness against familiar backdrop of forest fruit. (1614 views)
Tasted by YankeeRobio on 7/16/2017 & rated 93 points: A very nice wine. Dark, rich and inky in color. Soft tannins and a velvety mouth feel on the entry. Bursting with cassis and licorice mid-palate. A nice 40 second finish with faint leather and tobacco. Very enjoyable. I have yet to be disappointed with Sebastiani. (1550 views)
Tasted by Ken332 on 7/1/2017 & rated 88 points: After reading Parker's review of this wine I purchased several bottles and decided to try this wine last night with grilled flat iron steak. Intense cassis fruit up front with leather and wood, touch of alcohol (14.7%) in the mid-range, and a good, moderately long finish. Decanted about an hour before serving, the wine was a bit disjointed and needs some time to integrate its flavors. That said, this is a very good Sebastiani Cabernet that will ultimately be a 90+ wine. I would recommend 2-3 years before trying another bottle. The Wine Advocate initially gave it 92 points, which is probably about right when it has time to come together.

I tried to purchase a case of the 2013 Sonoma from Sebastiani, but the distributor only had the 2014. It is good to see Sebastiani producing at this level. (1383 views)
Tasted by jdrach on 5/6/2017: Rich aroma. Green herbs. (1292 views)
Tasted by YankeeRobio on 3/3/2017 & rated 93 points: Fantastic wine. Dark fruit both mid palate and on finish. Slight cherry. balanced tannins, acidity, and alcohol. Great wine. Looking forward to drinking the next three in the coming years. (1289 views)
Tasted by OWC on 2/22/2017 & rated 91 points: Pleasantly surprised by this delicious Cab. Fruity, with judicious use of oak and firm backbone in support. Great on day 2 and still palatable a day after that. (1016 views)
Tasted by timfrank on 3/26/2016 & rated 87 points: Good nose. Dark. Spicy with vanilla finish (2199 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
