Tasted by cobystilp on 12/2/2023 & rated 89 points: Boy I love all my Carlisle bottles. (360 views)
Tasted by MRichman on 7/29/2023: A bit over rich at room temp, better with a little chill. Full purple fruit, rich with great wide flavor profile. Soft Structure. Very interesting. Ready to drink now and over the next 3ish years maximum. (429 views)
Tasted by wilypod on 3/6/2022 & rated 91 points: A handsome, bold Zinfandel. By itself very fine, with food great. 11% Petite Sirah adds woofer notes and tannic structure. Black cherry, wild cherry, dark chocolate/orange zest, and leather. Aromas, fruit, and texture showed best at 59 to 65 F. (1192 views)
Tasted by Glencoewine on 1/7/2022 & rated 90 points: Agree with BHRH. Drank over two nights with no decant. Never really opened like other Carlisle Zins I have had. This was either very reserved, the fruit faded, or in a dumb phase. I have one bottle of this remaining and will drink in next 6ish months. (1139 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 12/30/2021 & rated 92 points: Dark raspberry with bramble and slight cinnamon (1138 views)
Tasted by BHRH on 11/10/2021 & rated 91 points: PnP - muted nose, awkward on the palate. Poured out glasses and let sit for an hour. Slowly came around with some classic, dusty, brambly raspberry fruit. Not overdone in any way, yet not remarkable either - just a really good Dry Creek Zin.
It took at least 90 minutes for this to unfold, so strongly recommend a decant or patient slow ox (1082 views)
Tasted by Eric Guido on 8/16/2021: Solid; rich, creamy, fruit forward, spicy, full-throttle, yet choked with character and balanced. (2056 views)
Tasted by sma on 2/3/2021 & rated 91 points: Very nice red, purple, black fruit with some dusty earth underlying the fruit. Medium plus body, medium plus finish, dark purple/garnet in color. Could easily continue to age but very pleasant now. (1108 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 12/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Remains young and fresh. Wonderful fruit, decently complex, nuanced, nice finish. (1010 views)
Tasted by Robwild on 11/21/2020 & rated 90 points: Deep purple color. Oak, tobacco, and dark fruits. A bit chewy and unbalanced. Was expecting a bit more from this but certainly enjoyable. (941 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 9/10/2020 & rated 90 points: In a good spot, drinking well. Hate to lower the CT ratings, but didn't find this to be anything special. Integrated dark fruit, hasn't faded, but also doesn't have the "wow" factor. (1065 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 7/22/2020 & rated 93 points: PnP. This starts off with bright red fruit. In the mid palate, the Petite Sirah kicks in to provide a layer of depth evolving into a peppery Zin finish. Wish I had more. (1090 views)
Tasted by btock on 6/21/2020 & rated 92 points: Always a fan of the DCV zin. I like it for its more dusty red fruit orientation vs. the RRV zins from Carlisle. Find the DCV goes well with red sauce Italian dishes and the like. My first bottle of the '14 vintage. I found it to have great zinberry notes on the nose but a bit bigger in construction than prior years. More of a red/purple fruit combo, delish and slurpable. Nice balance to the palate. Would recommend enjoying on the sooner side, not the acidity of past vintages to go for the long haul. In a nice window now. (1022 views)
Tasted by depdoc on 5/22/2020 & rated 92 points: Big, jammy, well balanced, lovely Carlisle zin. (959 views)
Tasted by levinml on 4/26/2020 & rated 90 points: My first underwhelming Carlisle. Not sure what was going on (with me or the wine), but this seemed like an ordinary weeknight wine. Kind of muted, nothing standing out, nothing bad. Not what I've been experiencing with any Carlisle for last five years. (1059 views)
Tasted by Hover low 64 on 4/13/2020 & rated 92 points: Excellent, full bodied zin with dark fruit and raspberry flavors. Some hints of wood and leather and smoke...and licorice?...make it interesting. Medium to long finish with some typical zinny pepper to boot. Another outstanding wine from the good folks at Carlisle. (1038 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 2/16/2020 & rated 87 points: A simple basic Zin, not much going on. Lacks intensity and a short sour finish. (1186 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 12/19/2019 & rated 89 points: In between my two prior reviews. It is a fruity style with enough astringency to keep it balance. Nice basic Zinfandel. (1180 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 11/18/2019 & rated 91 points: I am not sure why, but I enjoyed this bottle more than the last recent one. I found this was tangy and balanced and impressive to drink. Perhaps it was the pairing with the pork tenderloin that raised it up a few notches. (1250 views)
Tasted by PIntag on 11/2/2019: Didn't really go as well with the smoked brisket plate as I had hoped. Alcohol spiked a bit, too. Overall, was just OK for me. (1208 views)
Tasted by Oldmanzin on 10/27/2019 & rated 93 points: Silky Zinfandel that is so well balanced. Red fruit Christmas spice are kept in check with the judicious use of wood. This drinks way above the price point. Good juice! (1222 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 10/22/2019 & rated 87 points: A bit simple, lacking mid palate with a short finish without enough crunch for me. Typically I love his wines (1230 views)
Tasted by Smatk on 8/24/2019 & rated 94 points: Gorgeous, bright, fruit forward and deep; finish goes on and on. In a perfect place, one of the best bottles I've had from Mike and Dry Creek. These wines are the best thing coming out of California. Paired fabulously with skirt steak fajitas. (1386 views)
Tasted by jeginmt on 2/27/2019 & rated 95 points: This is a wonderful red wine. A zin and petite syrah blend, dark ruby color, full bodied, rich fruit, subdued tannins, very smooth, long finish. Our dinner guest thought it was delicious. I concur. (1740 views)
Tasted by spicy1 on 10/7/2018 & rated 91 points: Outstanding QPR for this Zin blend. (1950 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
