Tasted by Ebrim on 1/21/2024 & rated 93 points: Red apples, lemon, lime, kimmeridge chalk, greene gooseberry, lean and clean, high acidity, long finish, well balanced, intense acidity, medium+ complex, very concentrated, outstanding 93p (607 views)
 Tasted by Irish_Wine on 11/20/2023 & rated 95 points: Lot 13/2 No 3 Disgorged 03/2018

First impressions against memory from having Les Roises from the same release the night before - more notable oak influence, less of the rich nougat note, a distinctive struck match nuance and higher acidity.

Expressive nose with wafts of green apple, pear and lemon. A real smoky touch. Layers of struck flint, toast, brioche and hazelnut. Huge palate intensity and persistence. Very vibrant. So delicious.

WSET notes:

Pale gold. Fine mousse.

Pronounced on the nose with green apple, pear, lemon, toast, smoke, struck flint, chalk, biscuit, brioche, hazelnut. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. High acidity, light body, medium alcohol, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for aging. (640 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 11/8/2023 & rated 96 points: Grand Jury du Vin - Republic of Georgia; 11/1/2023-11/9/2023 (Republic of Georgia then stopover in Paris and Dijon): Decadent complex nose displaying succulent rich yellow fruit with a hint of red, lemon curd, baked apple, sour apple, a hint of red currant, brioche, cinnamon and other sweet spices, rain water and fine limestone dust. Beautifully integrated palate, nicely layered succulent yellow and red fruit, very find medium generous mousse, rich and sumptuous but also beautifully balanced and detailed, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a long succulent yellow and red fruit driven finish with cinnamon at the end. This is a very complete Champagne that is drinking incredibly well. There is no need to wait, however. (1287 views)
Tasted by lltl2021 on 7/31/2023 & rated 96 points: 2016 base, still young and has huge potential. Very tight and concentrated upon opening with strong brioche/yeasty nose. Minerality forward. It soon transitioned into fruit, and then almond, then honeyed floral. Great wine and paired wonderfully with seafood. (884 views)
Tasted by Decanting Queen on 7/28/2023 & rated 93 points: Feeling quite fortunate to have found 2 UC’s in one night, and my 3rd over the past week! On a wonderful restaurant menu in Forte de Marni, Italy for these two.
This was really lovely although served too cold and really needed to warm up to get the full intensity of the nose and palate. Concentrated yet delicate, citrus, marmelade, mineral. Lovely balance despite the acidity. Perfect with all types of food we encountered. A great choice albeit maybe a bit young. Disgorged 2020. (1776 views)
Tasted by GuWin on 5/25/2023 & rated 92 points: BYO Litteraturhuset "Best Wine": Base 2014. Intens, stram, syrlig floral duft. Åpen og sjenerøs smak med rik, stram munnfølelse. God fylde med sitrus og grønne epler, god mousse og ren syre. Veldig delikat, drikker flott nå. (966 views)
 Tasted by Papies on 5/13/2023 & rated 92 points: Lot 13/2 N77, Disgorged 03/2018.
Soft , polished, almost silky for a champagne and albeit we really loved the quality here it could have used a bit more energy and presence. Don’t get us wrong a very solid wine just we felt maybe 5 years post disgorgement maybe getting too much for it. Drink sooner than later ( this bottling) . 92 (923 views)
Tasted by forceberry on 11/17/2022 & rated 94 points: 100% Chardonnay from the 0,62-hectare lieu-dit Les Enfers in Congy. Fermented in predominantly old Burgundy oak pièces, followed by spontaneous MLF. The wine is a blend based on 2016 vintage (the lot number in the back label says "E16") with some older reserve wines. Bottled in summer 2017 and aged sur lattes for approximately four years (the front label says Vieillisement en cave de 48 mois and the back label says "48 M"), disgorged in March 2021. Bottle no. 1087. 12,5% alcohol, dosage typically 1-2 g/l.

Medium-deep lemon-yellow color with a subtly greenish hue. The seductive nose feels somewhat concentrated and shows some obvious oak influence with rather vinous aromas of sweet creamy tones and vanilla custard, some toasty nuances, a little bit of ripe Golden Delicious apple, light peachy notes, a hint of leesy autolysis and a touch of lemon marmalade. The wine feels firm, somewhat concentrated and very focused on the palate with a medium body and intense flavors of creamy oak, some vanilla tones, a little bit of leesy autolysis, light nutty notes of savory wood spice, crunchy hints of red apple and ripe Meyer lemon and a touch of browned butter. The overall feel is quite bright and structured with the high, slightly incisive acidity and gentle, quite persistent mousse. The finish is lively, long and harmonious with an acid-driven aftertaste of creamy oak and savory notes of woody oak spice, some ripe citrus fruit notes, a little bit of buttery MLF character, light leesy notes of autolysis, a toasty hint of brioche and a touch of vanilla custard.

A fine, complex and quite vinous Champagne that would be quite a powerhouse if it weren't so focused and sleek at the same time. The oak influence is quite obvious here - and I can imagine it can bother some Champagne purists who prefer their bubblies un-wooded - but to me, this wine came across almost like a classic Puligny-Montrachet or a fine Western Australian Chardonnay that drunk like a Champagne. The style is probably not that of the most traditional Blanc de Blancs Champagne, as the emphasis is on the focused fruit and qualities that oak aging has brought, not on piercing minerality. However, the quality and complexity are undeniably there and this is a darn fine bubbly. Perhaps a bit too young, if anything. I enjoyed it quite immensely already now, but there's still a bit of awkwardness here and the oak impact could use a bit more age to develop into something more subtle and complex. Let the wine wait for another 3-5 years - it is definitely not going to hurt the wine. Not the most affordable wine at 120€, but most likely will deliver for the price if left to age for a bit longer. (1628 views)
Tasted by Mario17 on 8/6/2022 & rated 92 points: Très beau, fin, droit, ciselé, pur, équilibré et assez long. 91-92

Very nice, straight, clean, pure, chiseled, balanced and good length. (1537 views)
Tasted by SH Wu on 2/12/2022 & rated 94 points: Rich yet not overwhelming. I really enjoyed the minerality on this that balanced the flavorful orchard fruit very well. The drink really opened up after some air and at room temperature. The decadence only increases after the bottle has been open for ~3 hours. This was an emphatic and memorable end of night wine that keeps spirits high as you catch-up with a friend you haven't seen in a while. (1104 views)
Tasted by HowardNZ on 1/14/2022 & rated 93 points: 2019 Visit to Cromwell (Central Otago, NZ): Served non-blind. Chardonnay 100%. A fatter, less mineral style. A bouquet of buttered toast with marmalade, peaches, pears, grapefruit and wet limestone. In the mouth, richer and fuller, seeming lower acids. Mainly orchard fruits – yellow apples, peaches and nectarines – and heavy citrus. Blanched almonds and oat biscuits. Still, sufficient vivid acidity, balancing the full fruit flavours. (2339 views)
Tasted by Dibbs on 12/30/2021 & rated 95 points: Racy acidity with brilliant mouthfeel and deep complexity. Everything you want in an young champagne in a perfect package. Improved with air and believe only going to improve further from here on out. (1047 views)
Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 5/15/2021 & rated 92 points: Dinner at Wimborne. Drank in Riedel Riesling Stemless.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Thin legs. Fine bubbles.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of brioche toast, citrus lemon, underlying limestone minerality. Developing.
On the palate, dry, piercing tart high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of concentrated citrus lemon lime, tart mouth-watering green apples, brioche toast, some marzipan. Long background line of white chalky limestone minerality. Long finish.
Very good quality. 2015 Base. Number 1108. Disgorged 03/2020.
Too young perhaps. Acidity a little too high for comfort now and may need some time to calm down. Substance concentration is there and more bottle age should flesh this out better. Another 3+ years to re-explore.
100% Chardonnay from a parcel in Congy adjacent to Les Roises but facing east. (2056 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 9/24/2020 & rated 94 points: A (mostly) Barolo dinner (Osteria Langhe, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is perfumed and deep with with red apples, bosc pears, kumquats, peaches, yellow flowers, almonds, smoke, biscuits, warm dough, and saline notes. The autolytics are certainly there but they are extremely well balanced with delicious fruit notes.

Taste: The feel is medium/full bodied with racy, high acidity. The acidity is well integrated and there is a lot of depth and polish to the feel with red apples, bosc pears, kumquats, peaches, biscuit, warm dough, and saline notes.

Overall: This is from a 2013 base. It is drinking beautifully right now as the fruits are well balanced and integrated with the autolytics. (2668 views)
 Tasted by julen789 on 9/23/2019 & rated 95 points: DG 03/2018
Very powerful gunpowder smell, pineapple, very present chalk.
Strong mineral mouthfeel, very profound and complex wine.
Like a grand cru Burgundy chardonnay with some bubbles. One of the best bottles this year.
95pt (3042 views)
Tasted by Lype on 1/11/2019 & rated 95 points: Base 2013, disgorged March 2018, fresh and fruity bouquet, the palate fulfils the promising scent, wild strawberries, subtle refined cocoa, dough and aromatics, dry mouthfeel, a bit waxy and some toast but very fresh. A bit more aged feel than the base vintage lets assume, good acidity and beautiful balance, impressive light and less is more type of structure, drinking very well right now, stunningly good. Moderately graded at 95. This is clearly better that the 2014 base version of this. (2729 views)
 Tasted by Papies on 11/23/2018 & rated 92 points: Lot NB 13/2 E 36M, Disgorged 16/02/2015.
Focused and firm wine, proper extra brut and the age since disgorgement definitely helps here with showing a bit more riper and toastier side, not a lot though. Floral, mineral wine and full of energy. Very solid 92 (2799 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 8/30/2018 & rated 93 points: From a 0.64 ha parcel on the Côteaux du Petit Morin in the very south of the Côte des Blancs, where the chalky bedrock is particularly rich in flint. Lot 13/1 No. 45, 48 months sur lattes, disgorged March 2018. Base vintage 2013, 20% vin de réserve. Relatively deep colour, steady stream of pin-prick bubbles; very impressive nose, vinous but fresh, almost honeyed, floral, deep; full-bodied palate, broad-shouldered, seamless, rounded, dry but elegant; complete finish, very good length. Very impressive. (2594 views)
Tasted by LW31 on 4/17/2018: A beauty. More layered and elegant than the Perrieres but less drive. Softer all around. A tad underdeveloped at the moment. (1947 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
