Tasted by KTelaak_Buffalo on 3/22/2024 & rated 96 points: An absolute beautiful and complex Napa fruit bomb. The fruits are vibrant and mind blowing. Dark and glass staining. It was an eye opener evey time someone tried this for the first time. (360 views)
Tasted by JJYoyo on 3/11/2023 & rated 94 points: Took a taste on pnp on the back of some TNs suggesting this was approachable right out of the gate. Not my experience: this was tight and very tannic right after decant. However, it IS approachable much faster after a decant than I would expect: an hour decant and this was already coming together beautifully. No really dominant side to this: poised almost midpoint between red and dark berry flavors. I did not think this was skewed to raspberry. There is a nice toasty vanilla and a whiff of mocha to this, but nothing excessive. Very harmonious with a lush mouthfeel. One good effect of the early tannic taste: it showed that under the hedonistic love bomb, there is really good structure here that will allow this to mature nicely. Liked it more and more as the evening went on.
Score : 94-95. Relative to expectations: ++

Next day: the bouquet was now dominated by vanilla in a way that had me worried about oak in a way I hadn’t been yesterday - which surprised me. However on the palate this really balanced out beautifully. Still very lush but not on the edge of “too much” any more. I think in time it will all come together very nicely.
Same score and expectations for now…. (1917 views)
Tasted by shadow on 1/28/2023 & rated 100 points: First class ticket to Cab nirvana.
She leaves you wanting more and each sip is a bold memory.
This is why I love Cab. (2029 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 1/5/2022 & rated 94 points: Coravined. Very deep electric magenta color. Dark raspberry, ash, and baking spice on the nose. Smooth, tongue drying palate, with chalky acidity. Firm tannins on the long finish.

This is very good, but very youthful. It’s more red fruited than I like, almost akin to a ‘17. My least favorite of the Vice Versa lineup, but all of their bottles are pretty amazing. (5083 views)
Tasted by eschuldt on 12/30/2021 & rated 96 points: PnP at cellar temp. Very nice mouthfeel and big but with well integrated alcohol, had a cool slightly herbal quality that reminded my a of a young SQN Syrah but with less herbal qualities. Potential to go higher in the future. (4412 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 12/7/2021 & rated 92 points: Napa trip day 3 (Napa): Drank a small glass over 45 minutes at the Wheeler Farms tasting facility with a winery rep. Crazy fruity, rich, deep, big, a little cloying. While I was drinking this, the spokeswoman mentioned "balance and elegance is everything". This was one of the few jammy wines I had on this trip, so I agree with her statement and hope they pursue that vision in future bottlings. (4309 views)
Tasted by I'd Rather Be Drinking Wine on 12/7/2021 & rated 94 points: Epic Napa Trip - Day 3: Tasted at Wheeler Farms - This was rich and concentrated with a nose that showed plenty of dark fruit, spice, pencil shavings and hints of earthy goodness. The palate showed plenty of red and black fruit, chocolate, hints of anise and forest floor, wrapped in fine tannins and a creamy fruit roll with hints of vanilla and toasted oak. This will likely get better, but is a hedonist's dream right now. As good as it was, I enjoyed the other three wines even more. 94 today, maybe more down the road. (5323 views)
Tasted by csimm on 7/27/2021 & rated 95 points: Vice Versa weekend and dinner: Powerfully sharp and angular on the first pop of the cork, the Steltzner doesn’t take long before it is hale and hearty with unified black and red berry fruit, rock, black cherry skin, and black pepper notes. After four hours from a double-decant, this becomes a joyously chewy palate-stainer. A streak of red cherry and red licorice is complimented by a blackberry and olallieberry core that adoringly coats the back of the mouth. A tinge of dark spice makes a fleeting appearance before being washed away by the layers of fruit.

Served next to the Liberace LPV, the Stletzner shows a tick or two less concentration and dramatic intensity. But hey, what do you expect?! I mean, Freddie Mercury looks pretty showy on stage until you stand him next to Marilyn Manson on a herrr’on induced cataclysm bender.

The Stelzner will perform well on release with a healthy decant, but ideally it’s worth holding a couple of years before starting to tear into these bottles. (8109 views)
Tasted by Cristal2000 on 7/24/2021 & rated 97 points: Vice Versa Wine Dinner: The best wine I’ve ever had from this site. Stunning floral aromas burst from the glass complemented by blackberries, dark chocolate, pencil shavings and forest floor. Super fresh on the palate, there’s lovely bright acidity with rich concentrated fruit and plenty of earth and mineral driven flavors. The texture is seamless and while already integrated and fine grained, the tannins are present enough to suggest a long life. This wine only suffered by drinking it next to the 19 LPV, which was absolutely rocking! 97+ (6151 views)
Tasted by WineBurrowingWombat on 2/27/2021 & rated 96 points: Vice Versa '19 Tasting (Wine cave of Vice Versa): Aromas of macerated and creamy red fruits. Flavors of deep earth, similar macerated red fruits on the nose with dark, bitter minerals (in a good way) and bit of silvery graphite. Probably needs another year or two for it to catch up to the '18 but great spectrum of minerals from silvery to dark. Good now as well with just a bit of time in the glass. (5765 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
