| Community Tasting Notes (average 85.2 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by markyc on 11/16/2022 & rated 76 points: This was a very odd-tasting Zin. It was very bitter. Not the usual Lodi scrumtiousness. It wasn’t corked, or stored improperly. No bold fruit. No in-your-face luscious texture normally associated with Lodi. Very disappointing. (372 views) | | Tasted by C.W.Birdies on 6/12/2022: Nose was a bit muted. Bramble and dark fruits on palate but harsh tannin/acid/alcohol flavor that I find too often in Zinfandel. Lessened a bit by day 3, but still not a big fan. Maybe Zin is not for me
2.0 (420 views) | | Tasted by gkpaoli on 5/27/2022: Cigar box, enjoyable at tasting but needs food (390 views) | | Tasted by UpfromtheCellar on 12/29/2021 & rated 88 points: Nice brambleberry fruit, earthy minerals and balanced finish. (685 views) | | Tasted by Vinnut on 12/17/2021 & rated 89 points: Medium-deep garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & spice notes, herbs, cocoa & minerals in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but may develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score. (643 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Valley The Central California Winegrowers (Official site) | Central Valley (California Wine Institute) |
