Tasted by ogres3 on 1/25/2023 & rated 92 points: Delicious. Complex deep dark fruit. Still ripe. Consumed in little Cayman. (604 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 9/23/2022 & rated 93 points: Consumed in Luxembourg. With cheese, figs, and prosciutto. Great fruit, appears to be drinking quite well. (495 views)
Tasted by zanzabar on 2/19/2022 & rated 93 points: Decabted to get rid of sediment, then decanted for 2 hours. Certainly didn't need that much time but errands took too long.

Anyway, great wine, very well made at 13/14 years old. To me this is medium to medium-full bodied, which is very nice given the plethora of jammy fruit bombs these days. This is still a little over the top, but in a good way. Had as a Friday night wine with the wife after the birth of our son Hudson, so her first wine back in a while.

Day 2, found its balance, seemed good and enjoyable the first night but now this is integrated and balanced. Glad to have some 2019's on their way, and will keep an eye out for more vintages as they come up. (478 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 11/7/2021 & rated 93 points: Paired this with a ribeye and decanted for about 90 minutes. Great combo. Delicious. Very rich with blue and black fruit. Coats the tongue. Very good finish. (640 views)
Tasted by Callybrian on 4/21/2021 & rated 94 points: Really like this cab. Decanted for 30 min. The nose has heavy hints of cedar and black cherry. The front of the palate hits you with a sweet black cherry before acidity and tannins take over. This wine would be perfectly paired with a heavy red meat dish. This wine will be good for many years to come. (652 views)
Tasted by Callybrian on 10/13/2020 & rated 92 points: Typical Cabernet Sauvignon nose, big casis with a hint of pepper. Alcohol is present on the palate but not overpowering. Can also taste some wet cigar wrapper and a hint of cloves (688 views)
Tasted by Elkcims on 4/27/2020 & rated 88 points: No good. Bought on release and stored well with cork intact and moist.
Disjointed plum fruit with a little heat. No depth or other flavors. (784 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 11/21/2019 & rated 87 points: Bring a Good Bottle at St Gen's (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Purple red color. PNP, followed a glass over an hour. The nose is better than the palate, offering blackberries, green pepper, and fresh herbs and oak. The palate comes off rather angular and a bit over the top, but it's really the balance that is suffering now as there's a lot of heat and oak as well. I enjoyed this better a couple years ago. (1307 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 11/21/2019 & rated 85 points: Worldwide Wines that Don't Suck (Saint Genevieve, Minneapolis): Can't drink these wines. Just boring and overpriced. Big with spice, pepper and some fruit. Not balanced. Pass. (1173 views)
Tasted by konadog on 5/7/2019 & rated 92 points: Probably would have benefited from a decanting. Still robust with fine grained tannins, dark mountain fruit. Can easily go another 5 yrs (837 views)
Tasted by MWymard on 12/31/2018 & rated 91 points: Strong tannin and acid structure, with heavy notes of chocolate covered cherries and currants. A great wine that probably needs another few years to truly shine. (846 views)
Tasted by Elkcims on 10/30/2018 & rated 93 points: In a good spot right now. (971 views)
Tasted by CWilliam on 8/29/2017 & rated 92 points: ATL Wine Group 1st Tasting; 8/27/2017-8/29/2017 (Beebe House): Tasted blind (mix was Rioja, California Cab or Bordeaux)

Medium purple color (looked younger than an '08). Cherry, dark cherry, saline on nose. On palate, cherry, orange peel, and cassis. Medium body, very good structure - this is built to age - medium acidity & nice tannic grip. Guessed Napa Cab ('09/'10). Almost went with '09 Left Bank Bordeaux from a modern producer. This tied for WOTN with an '06 Muga Rioja Gran Reserva. 92+ [this held up well 48 hours later when re-tasted]. (1820 views)
Tasted by #1Winelover on 3/16/2017 & rated 90 points: I hope that this improves on day 3. Day #3! For the first 2 days, the wine had a burnt tasting with not much fruit. It was perfectly drinkable, but hasn't age that well. Hopefully, more to come. (2660 views)
Tasted by brianofthevine on 12/31/2016 & rated 94 points: Damn, this is good! Big, bold black fruits up front with a great structure of tar and earth throughout. Firm tannins, long finish, great wine! (1698 views)
Tasted by Ed B on 5/13/2016 & rated 95 points: PnP at a restaurant. No detailed notes. Spectacular wine (2310 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 4/24/2016 & rated 89 points: 94+ at Gary and Judy's: Decanted 4 hours. Drank a good-sized glass over an hour. This cab is even bigger than I remember it. Amped up, tons of fruit, lots of alcohol and wood. A bruiser. (2635 views)
Tasted by Ed B on 11/24/2015 & rated 95 points: After a rough day unpacking wine and putting bottles in cellar slots -- talk about a 1% problem -- I decided to treat my self. Wow!!

Splash decanted and drank over next 3 hours. Moderate, fine sediment. Nearly opaque ruby-red with margins hinting of future orange. Initially, integrated red and dark berries; smooth and pleasant. As time went on -- and as food entered the picture -- the spice came out. At 3 hours, the front is tart, spicy plumb with licorice and raspberry overtones. Still medium-full body. Finish is very long and ever-changing.

A spectacular wine.

Tasted by marka on 4/11/2015 & rated 91 points: Had with NY strip. Nice balance. Love the mountain fruit. A bit of blackberry, pepper, but mainly some red fruit. (2290 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 2/1/2015 & rated 94 points: Robert's 50th (A Tastey Restaurant): Loved this wine. Purple in color. The nose has cassis, blueberries, vanilla but also a nice mineral undertone. On the palate, this is lush, fruit forward and delicious. Likewise, there is a tight layering of complexity as it unwinds in the glass. Lovely now, but a decade left. Great wine. (3091 views)
Tasted by sjdcellar on 9/22/2014 & rated 92 points: this has great potential but even after 3 hours in decanter it was tight and huge. Little bit hot as well. There are great underlying cab notes but they are hidden right now by a big tannic structure. (2413 views)
Tasted by Encinitas_Joe on 8/21/2014 & rated 95 points: Another great bottle. In perfect form right now. (2496 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 8/8/2014 & rated 94 points: This was very good on day 1 but had amazing complexity and texture by the last glass on day 3. Day 3 notes - Fleshy but structured with dark fruits and a "pie" element. Cassis, coffee, iodine and tobacco on a long finish. Nose was complex but not necessarily pleasant for me - stopped it from being a 95+ wine for me. Great value. Long life ahead (2167 views)
Tasted by Brsed on 8/5/2014 & rated 93 points: This wine was in a really good place. Lush black fruits with great depth but not flabby whatsoever. Texture was very smooth. (1632 views)
Tasted by Encinitas_Joe on 4/26/2014 & rated 95 points: Decanted for an hour and enjoyed with some Piave and a filet. Definitely a favorite of the group. Incredibly smooth and well defined. Second bottle consumed in the last 6 months and similar experience with both. The Outpost team has received a lot more press in the last few years but is still a bargain. Great bottle. (2046 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
