Came around nicely compared to previous bottle (September 2016). Still youthful (1017 views) | | Tasted by Kris G on 3/17/2020 & rated 91 points: Full bodied, black and red fruits, ripe tannins, sweet touch, a discrete spiciness, juicy, nice wine. (2913 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 2/12/2014 & rated 92 points: A business lunch (Restaurant Aan de Poel **, Amstelveen, NL): Lovely rich colour; nose has ripe fruit with floral topnotes and a mature hint of leather; rich but unshowy palate, good concentration, ripe tannins, mineral freshness; very good length. (3777 views) | | Tasted by vespasian on 9/11/2013 & rated 95 points: Tasted at the winery
Quite deep coloured for the age - vibrant rim, dense ruby core; dense and peppery nose. Very good richness and totally different to the 2007 Fontodi Syrah tasted the day before. Some bacon and meat fat; Lovely entry, gorgeous texture in the mouth, density and richness, this has it all, a truly wonderful wine. Full and complete, the tannins are beautifully integrated with the fruit. Very, very very long. Top class Syrah. Beautiful wine. (3670 views) | | Tasted by PatrickinKW on 1/1/2013 & rated 93 points: Purchased at the winery. Deep purple with the nose exploding with blackberry, black plums, and a touch of black olive. Drinking will now with fine tannins and a nice acidic backbone. (3813 views) | | Tasted by ikileo on 5/15/2011: Florence & Tuscan Holiday; 5/9/2011-5/16/2011 (Florence & Tuscany): Tasted again. Decanted for a half hour and drank over an hour
Nose: Similar to my previous notes, but far more open for business. Aromas were more distinct and deeper with added floral note. Very addictive.
Taste: On the palate, the flavours were bursting forth as the wine started to unwind. Almost like a blend of a Southern and Northern Rhone Syrah. The fruit was very vibrant, almost like a southern Rhone but had the nice peppery notes and elegance of a northern rhone. This is an incredibly wonderful wine that will only get better. Went incredibly well with the thinly sliced beef with rosemary herbs. Nose: A little initial sulphur on the nose which blew away in time to reveal wonderful fragrance of dried hay, herbs, juicy red currants and some chocolate and mocha. We kept going back to smell this wine as it kept getting better and better during the tasting.
Taste: Still very tight and structured. This clearly needs a lot more air. Couldn't get much from it at this point other than the precision of the flavours on the palate.
I would very much like to taste this wine again when it has opened up. (3515 views) |
