Tasted by cucycling on 1/14/2014 & rated 92 points: Enjoyed with a New York steak following a 07 Stags Leap cask 23. This Lancaster was a smooth wonderful treat (big fruit soft mouthfeel, nice spice nose) compared to the cask 23 that had a rather dry finish. (3312 views)

Tasted by VAD on 9/9/2013 & rated 92 points: Drinking very well right now. Should keep getting better. (3468 views)
Tasted by JDV.DDSPHD on 6/15/2013 & rated 91 points: Probably for me the weakest wine of the night but it was up against two 95 pt Parker wines & a 94 pt Parker wine. On a side note I didn't look at Parker's scores for this or flora springs before I tasted them so I tasted them without Parker's influence. Smoky, earthy characteristics. Stone, and chalk with the black fruit following on the nose. Almost a vanilla in the nose as well. Not nearly as fruit forward as the trilogy with the clack currants, cassis & a hint if pomegranate coming through. Definitely balanced and the scales were not tipped in either direction of fruit driven or earth & terroir. Tannins were mouth coating and encouraged you to chew this a bit more & the finish was acceptable lasting for a good 15-20 seconds. (3301 views)
Tasted by marshalc on 9/22/2012 & rated 86 points: Rather restrained, somewhat harsh and with a green almost vegetal edge. Not particularly pleasant at this point, and unsure if the tannins will later allow the promise to unfold as many describe. (4595 views)
Tasted by Dnjhansen on 4/1/2012 & rated 92 points: Still very young, soft tannins, chocolate covered cherry and plum. A lot of alcohol at the end, needs to soften (4742 views)
Tasted by grayfont on 12/4/2011: Westwood Country Club Annual Holiday Wine Tasting (Westwood CC, Vienna VA): If I had tasted this blind, I would have thought it was a malbec from argentina. A bit harsh, especially on the back of the palate. Importer conducting the tasting assured me this was a proper bottle but withholding rating as it seems like an outlier to me. (6018 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 11/26/2011 & rated 90 points: Licorice, smoke, coffee bean, plums and earthy scents produce an enjoyable perfume. Concentrated with ripe, dark, lush fruit, this polished wine ends with a round, oak and black cherry filled finish. (5405 views)
Tasted by jeff nowak on 10/29/2011 & rated 87 points: an unfamiliar producer. i see someone scores this 95. whoa. let's hope thay never taste a truly good wine unless they have an implanted defibrillator. (5276 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
