Stone fruit and sufficient acidity, mid-weight. Varietally correct? Not sure what I might have pegged it as. (2369 views) | | Tasted by cliffkol on 4/18/2012 & rated 88 points: Willamette Valley - Tasted at winery: Nose of candy, sweet, pineapple and stone fruits. Flavors of stone fruits, pineapple and oak. Light bodied. Fairly well balanced and enjoyable. (3571 views) | | Tasted by tmoritz1 on 1/17/2012 & rated 87 points: - Light gold color with fast forming legs and aromas of lemon and pineapple. It's somewhat balanced with a light/medium body. Juicy texture with a short finish. (2439 views) | | Tasted by David Paris (dbp) on 12/17/2011 & rated 88 points: Visits to Cristom, St. Innocent, Johan, Argyle, Dobbes, Chehalem: Very light tropical fruits on the nose that are pretty nice, but they seem quite buried. Not very up front for a Viognier, though the smells are typical. Nice pineapple flavors on the palate, complete with the acidic nature of that fruit. Quite fruit forward and creamy in texture. The finish shows some nice acid on a crisp approach. Nice spicy, but things are a little out of balance on the finish. (3301 views) |
| Cristom Producer websiteViognierViogner is wrong wine
This is nonsense.EstateIn the United States, "Wines with “estate bottled” designations must: a) also designate an appellation of origin or an AVA, and both the vineyards and the winery must be located there; b) the grapes must come from vineyards owned or controlled by the winery; and c) the wine must have been produced, from crush to bottle, in a continuous process without leaving the winery’s premises."
- WINE LABEL FAQS: A QUICK SUMMARY OF LABEL DESIGNATION RULES" by David E. StollUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.Oregon Oregon Wine, Oregon Wineries (Oregon Wine Board)Willamette Valley Willamette Valley Wineries Association | Willamette Valley (Oregon Wine Board) On weinlagen-info including some single vineyards
