| Community Tasting Notes (average 93.3 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by gordoyflaca on 12/17/2019 & rated 93 points: Lots of VA on the nose, but rich fruit with fennel and dried mint (783 views) | | Tasted by TannicBeast on 4/14/2018 & rated 92 points: One of the wines featured at OperaWine 2018 in Verona. Natural, unfined, unfiltered, 100+ year-old-vine Cannonau. Amazingly complex, rich and still relatively youthful, despite being 14-years old. The label says 17% abv, but it doesn't seem quite that high. It is definitely worth trying after a decant. The back label warns that "every bottle can be different," so expect bottle variation. (1000 views) | | Tasted by Italiana on 12/15/2016: Amazing--It took about 3 days to yield a very satisfying glass of wine. . .don't know if YOUR long decant can allow that much time, if not, wait a few years before opening. (1509 views) | | Tasted by Italiana on 7/24/2016 flawed bottle: Flawed bottle? Pungent petrochemical aromas never fully dissipated, masking what seemed to be some nice, rich fruit, indicating that there might be a really nice wine in the bottle somewhere. The incredible alcohol level adds heat to the unpleasant aromas. Hoping for better from the next bottle. (1680 views) | | Tasted by Ludi on 7/1/2013 & rated 93 points: Granato chiaro, piuttosto trasparente. Al naso mirto, ginepro, macchia mediterranea, ciliegia matura, note animali, eucalipto, in un quadro di salmastra mineralità. Bocca intensa ma di sorprendente eleganza, non pervenuta l’alcolicità (3515 views) | | Tasted by jaypeeq on 7/31/2011 & rated 95 points: Outstanding, I did not experience any of the unpleasant qualities some others have. Exotic spice on the nose, rich and almost reminiscent of a Recioto. Plummy, lush fruit on the palate and plenty of power, It is labeled 17% alcohol but it is well balanced. (2853 views) | | Tasted by kstoddard on 7/30/2008: 4BOW: Italian Wines (Backstreet Wine Salon): Cherry nose. Violet, blackcurrant and garrigue. Sour nail polish finish with very noticeable heat undoubtedly due to its lofty 17% alcohol. Not sure what they were trying to do here. I really do not like this wine. What was Galloni tasting to rate this in the mid 90s? No rating. (1797 views) | | Tasted by jeff nowak on 7/30/2008: 17% alcohol. decanted 2 hours, and poured back in the bottle for transport to the tasting. winemaking run amok. hard as nails, and not in a manner that insinuates closed, tight, not enough air, too young. made me think of oingo boingo's song "weird science". awful. (1507 views) | | Tasted by goofy Yno on 7/30/2008: big, big wine, surprise, only 17% etoh- and you can taste it. use only for medicinal purposes. (2381 views) | | Tasted by mattiasjansson on 7/30/2008: Off bottle? (2902 views) | | Tasted by jivey on 7/30/2008: Nail Polish and an alcoholic mess (17%). Can't believe they put this in a bottle.
