| Community Tasting Notes (average 88.3 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by nehpets99 on 3/29/2021 & rated 88 points: Deep garnet. Aromas are pretty restrained but getting some cherry, leather, a little oak. Still has a little tannin and acid to excite my tongue but overall the finish is very short. It's definitely nothing like a lot of the California cabs I've had (and I mean that as a compliment to this wine). Overall it's just kinda "meh". (861 views) | | Tasted by lbrooks on 9/21/2019 & rated 80 points: Not my favorite! But not bad it has a nice dark hue and a blueberry and plum smell. It starts a with a little plum followed with a tad but or tartness. In the middle it has an overly powering plum taste with a little sour. It finishes thin with a little tart. There isn’t much tannin (820 views) | | Tasted by RogerQ on 8/21/2019 & rated 91 points: Dark fruit, spice and somewhat herbaceous Cabernet Sauvignon from Umbria. Nice elegant long finish. Great QPR. (646 views) | | Tasted by tomoem on 3/22/2019 & rated 90 points: Fabulous value driven Italian Cabernet. Well balanced, spice driven and emersive blackberry experience. Find some as this is as close to one of the better QPR's of the year. (527 views) |
| Falesco Producer website | Producer page on Importer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonItaly Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorUmbria On weinlagen-infoUmbriaumbaria |
