Tasted by Joshbturner on 4/15/2020 & rated 92 points: Still drinking very nicely. Excellent merlot. (860 views)
Tasted by FoxStreet55356 on 8/27/2017: - Brick color. (1586 views)
Tasted by Arch57 on 8/1/2015 & rated 92 points: Was going thru my Cabs, looking for a wine to pair with a rib-eye and found this in the rack and said "I should try a Merlot instead". Decanted for a couple of hours as the tannins were pronounced on opening, this was a very pleasant wine experience. It's a noble grape like Cabernet but has spicy notes instead of cassis you get with Cabs.
I should invest in cellaring more mid-level Merlots as we really enjoy them as a change of pace from the Cali-cabs. (2816 views)
Tasted by mwneil on 11/28/2014 & rated 85 points: Heavy, drinkable wine that is nothing special; a 3 person bottle due to its 15.2 alcohol but even 3 of us did not finish it; balanced, heavy bodied and not much bouquet for a Merlot; not sure why one would spend the money on a wine like this, I got it as a gift; would not drink again; (3280 views)
Tasted by Outplaying on 10/26/2014: Fairly big in terms of fruit and alcohol. Soft and plush, dark fruits and a touch of mocha. A nice change of pace for us. (3322 views)
Tasted by rylanreynolds on 5/7/2014 & rated 91 points: Really nice Merlot. Not my go-to varietal yet I was pleasantly surprised by the power of Plumpjack here. Very smooth integrated tannins. (3387 views)
Tasted by tfharris on 3/3/2014 & rated 92 points: Exceptional after about 45 minutes of opening. (2893 views)
Tasted by cochoa on 2/24/2014 & rated 92 points: Surprisingly peppery with deep berry taste. Exceptional Merlot. (2187 views)
Tasted by Merky_Waters on 2/6/2014 & rated 91 points: concentrated and savory dark fruit up front. borderline jammy but with just enough acidity. great minerality with cooling irony-slate-y notes. finishes long but round like a merlot should be. the high ABV is very well masked.

a rich and delicious merlot. very new world take. (1697 views)
Tasted by tfharris on 1/20/2014 & rated 91 points: Very good merlot and got better after 1 hour. (1582 views)
Tasted by eluebchow on 1/5/2014 & rated 90 points: A rich and voluptuous expression of Merlot; the palate has layers of plums, blackberries, cinnamon and vanilla; this finishes with firm tannins and a lengthy aftertaste; very well made although fairly typical for this region (1271 views)
Tasted by Bmikkel on 3/26/2013 & rated 93 points: Outstanding. One of my favorites. (2275 views)
Tasted by Dasher on 3/24/2013 & rated 93 points: Haven't open one of these in a year. Still drinking great! (2113 views)
Tasted by PDD on 1/26/2013 & rated 92 points: Cinnamon, nutmeg, and blackberry. Very very good. (2350 views)
Tasted by Winoluver on 11/3/2012 & rated 92 points: AGM

Needs an hour to decant. Bitter finish until it opens. However when it does open, pepper, cinnamon wt cherries early wt right acidity & tannins on finish gives a nice oak taste. Very good bottle. (2817 views)
Tasted by tfharris on 9/2/2012 & rated 92 points: Outstanding merlot. Drinks much bigger. (2980 views)
Tasted by awise45 on 6/8/2012 & rated 88 points: Good but not great. Fresh and light but lacking depth. (2811 views)
Tasted by pkbackman on 6/1/2012 & rated 90 points: Outstanding Merlot. Good fruit. Real firm tannins (could probably wait a year on this) and a touch of oak on the palate. (2837 views)
Tasted by cyak on 5/25/2012 & rated 87 points: Deep purple color, predominate flavors are a mix of pepper and berry tastes. THere is a touch of a bitter or sour finish which resolves with decanting. Slightly earthy. Strong for a merlot. (2608 views)
Tasted by Dasher on 4/15/2012 & rated 93 points: Great full body wine! A little dry, but drinks like a cab. (2752 views)
Tasted by awise45 on 4/9/2012 & rated 92 points: Fresh and fruit-forward, with light an almost tart fruit: strawberry, hint of rhuarb-type fruit. Very nice. (2767 views)
Tasted by tychill on 2/13/2012 & rated 92 points: Big beautiful nose with blackberry, cinnamon and earth coming through. On the palate, med-full bodied with gamey, meaty fruit and spice. Very long finish. Silky smooth. (3040 views)
Tasted by awise45 on 2/4/2012 & rated 92 points: Starts a bit tart but smooths out and finishes nicely -- opened up after 30 minutes and was much fuller after an hour and a half. (2922 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 10/22/2011 & rated 89 points: Domestic New Releases Tasting (Binny's, St. Charles): Opaque crimson color. Aromas of dill, mocha, dark fruit and plum. Medium-bodied, with dusty tannin and flavors of plum and dark fruit. $49.99. (4054 views)
Tasted by Porchino on 8/21/2011 & rated 90 points: Some chocate flavors and smooth but gives wine fatique.coho Michael black is better (3207 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
