| Community Tasting Notes (average 89.9 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Baron Slick on 11/30/2018 & rated 92 points: I love this wine. It’s seamless, fully integrated, and opens to meat, asphalt, and tasty, black and blue fruit notes over gravelly minerality and a suggestion of milk chocolate and black tea on the back end. Such a lovely articulation of place. The only shame is that only 298 cases were produced. (510 views) | | Tasted by BillyRayValentine on 4/9/2016 & rated 89 points: Interestingly more fruit forward than prior bottles. Still nice. Ready to drink. (923 views) | | Tasted by BillyRayValentine on 9/27/2015 & rated 91 points: Consistent with prior notes. Complex, balanced. Dark fruit shows more than pepper and savory notes. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves. Tremendous value. (957 views) | | Tasted by BillyRayValentine on 5/25/2015 & rated 92 points: Similar to prior notes. This wine keeps getting better. Unbelievable QPR. (1007 views) | | Tasted by BillyRayValentine on 12/26/2014 & rated 92 points: Agree with Jeff Leve's tasting note. Cote Rotie without the funk. Excellent value. (1045 views) | | Tasted by Jeff Leve on 3/11/2014 & rated 90 points: Named after the famous hill in Cote Rotie, due to its blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, there is a lot of ripe black raspberry, pepper, jam, fennel and vanilla bean characteristics in this round, open style of California Syrah. (1372 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 8/17/2013 & rated 91 points: Dark ruby color; roasted black fruit, pepper, tar nose; roasted black fruit, pepper, tar palate; medium-plus finish (93% Syrah, 7% Viognier) 91+ points (309 views) | | Tasted by spo on 3/21/2013 & rated 88 points: Jammy blueberry, coffee and a hint of fig and brown sugar. Opened this 2 days ago and enjoyed it the first evening as well when it as drier with cherry flavor and a little stemmy. (1060 views) |

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
