(845 views) | | Tasted by Jeff Leve on 8/14/2013 & rated 85 points: Clearly, this is not my style of wine. Much better on the nose than the palate with its smoke, truffle, red berry scented perfume. On the palate, the wine was packed with tart red fruits and the tannins were dry. Others raved about it. Wine like this is all about the style, which works for some better than others. (5712 views) | | Tasted by trankin on 10/11/2006 & rated 97 points: Gorgeous nose of mature cab. Olives, leather, cassis, just a touch of prune, some forest floor, some pine needle. On the palate, this is just awesome. Lovely, wonderful, surprisingly lush fruit. Strawberries, some lovely graphite and pencil lead. A touch of sous bois in there. The tannins are beautiful and silky and fully integrated. Still wonderful acids. Really elegant wine. The finish goes on and on, although the finish is just a touch dry. Absolutely wonderful wine. This is fully mature, and didn't begin to fade at all for a couple hours. This is at the tail end of peak - time to drink up. (6536 views) |

Red Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.SassicaiaIn 1994, Sassicaia was granted a unique distinction of having the only DOC dedicated to a single wine (Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC). So there are two distinct, non-overlapping definitions for Sassicaia in CellarTracker:
* 1994 and younger use the Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC. * 1993 and older are labeled simply as table wines, Vino da Tavola.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorTuscany Tuscany (ItalianMade.com) | TuscanytVino da TavolaMamoiada, Sardegna |
