Tasted by vinoannat on 11/25/2020 & rated 92 points: Very good wine. Ready to drink but can probably be saved much longer. Some age tones. (574 views)
Tasted by jsjones on 11/3/2020 & rated 93 points: Some nice little age on this. I got a lot of leather and chocolate. (530 views)
Tasted by Lyubomir Lefterov on 7/10/2020 & rated 89 points: Decanted and ready within 10-5 min (no sediment in the bottle though). Very tasty and easy to drink, cherries with tuned freshness, I have the feeling it was a touch overripe on the fruit.
Aged manchego and salami provided a nice paring. Went really quickly. (612 views)
Tasted by bethel31 on 6/1/2018: A bit young and tannins not fully integrated. Can wait for a few more years. A bit acidic and lack fruit (1335 views)
Tasted by chrisanderika on 3/10/2018 & rated 89 points: Very vibrant, like a fruity young Burgundy. (1169 views)
Tasted by jan erik on 7/23/2017 & rated 88 points: - Crimsom color with fast forming legs. It's somewhat balanced with a light/medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Knallkjp pa Systemet ! (1301 views)
Tasted by Buick455 on 12/11/2016 & rated 88 points: Clear bright red/black. Cherries, spice. Not that complex. Easy drinking. (1816 views)
Tasted by Trasnidarn on 9/10/2016 & rated 89 points: One of my favourites in this price range, sophisticated, subtle with very nice tannins (1799 views)
Tasted by Papamoose on 4/5/2016 & rated 85 points: One of my favorites, Pio Cesare's Langhe Nebbiolo, finished tonight's tasting.

Distinct in its red, turning orange, color. Expressive nose of cherries and spiciness. Dry. Medium acidity, high on tannins. Aromas of dried cherries, and spiciness accompanied by vanilla. Long but quite tannic finish.

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is a red grape indigenous to the Piedmont region of Italy in the Northwest. The grape can also be found in other parts of the world, though they are not as respected.

Nebbiolo is often considered the "king of red wines," as it is the grape of the famed wines of Barolo DOCG, Barbaresco DOCG, and Roero DOCG. It is known for high tannins and acidity, but with a distinct finesse. When grown on clay, Nebbiolo can be very powerful, tannic, and require long aging periods to reach its full potential. When grown on sand, the grape exhibits a more approachable body with more elegant fruit and less tannins, but still has high aging potential.

"Nebbiolo" is named for the Italian word, "nebbia", which means "fog", in Italian and rightfully so since there is generally a lot of fog in the foothills of Piedmont during harvest.

Nebbiolo is a late-ripening variety that does best in a continental climate that boasts moderate summers and long autumns. In Piedmont, Nebbiolo is normally harvested in October.
