 Tasted by innesa on 12/3/2021 & rated 92 points: Bright pale golden straw, energetic bubbles which receded to fine bead, fine medium mousse. Apples, citrus, lively acidity but not overpowering, slight leees qualities, not overly complex, some nougat and creaminess, would be good with scallops I think. Second glass I felt there was a little tart acidity on the finish. All in all a decent of not amazing champagne. (1772 views)

Very fine bubbles, very charming and round. Medium+ long and good finish. The extraordinary balance is the clear highlight here. A crowd-pleaser with a very good quality-price-ratio (not considered for the score). Needed a bit of air to fully show its charms. I guess with some more years of bottle age it could gain considerable depth, which could eventually making it something even better. (3801 views)

A dry Champagne with medium+ acidity and medium flavour intentisty and complexity. Citric flavours dominate (lemon, a bit of grapefruit) within a subtle toast and brioche frame. Pleasant, long and very fresh finish. Nothing to complain about. (2650 views)

Reasonably ripe apple with pear, some hints of redder fruit, pronounced biscuit (from the Meunier perhaps) and a solid feeling chalkiness to the finish. Pierre Bertrand Champagne Premier Cru

A small family grower in the famous village of Cumieres in the Marne valley. Pinot-dominated like most wines from this village, it's deep copper/gold and wonderfully peachy and lush, explosively juicy, and cracking value. The extended bottle ageing of this wine (6-8 years) is way longer most NV Champagnes and lends the wines its weight and character. But it's also fresh and lemony which is such a great champagne

Wine introduction:

Grape varieties : 33% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, 33% Pinot Meunier.
Second bottle age: 48 months.
Aged base wine : 50%.
Process : stainless steel tank.
Added sugar : 7 g/L.
Malolactic fermentation : depends on the vintage.

Terroir : The Marne River runs through the Champagne region. Since ancient times, it has been the most important traffic artery in northern France, sending champagne loved by celebrities and nobles to Paris. The scenery along the coast is charming and the development is quite prosperous. In the east, near Aÿ, the chalk soil of the Hans Mountains continues, which is suitable for planting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. To the west, the clay-to-sand ratio in the soil increases, making it the most suitable growing area for Munier. A number of smallholder champagne producers produce excellent champagnes, mainly Munier.
Vinification : The winery uses only the Cœur de Cuvée (18 hl) part for vinification; and in order to assess the ratio of sugar and acidity in the grapes, the winery cooperates with the laboratory to analyze the base wine of each vintage. The results of the analysis allow winemakers to make pre-selections and blend ratios for different vintages.

A selection of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier from the slopes of Cumières Premier Cru and Hautvillers Premier Premier Cru. Add 50% aged base wine, ferment in a stainless steel tank for the first time, choose whether to carry out lactic acid fermentation according to the year, and age for a second time in the bottle for 48 months.

The nose is elegant and captivating, with flavors of ripe citrus, pear and papaya, with a hint of pastry. Pleasant acidity reflects the refreshing taste, with a little lemon fragrance, the overall texture is balanced, and the aftertaste is fine and long.

In the Decanter champagne tasting held in June 2017, this champagne beat 99 other terroir champagnes, including Larmandier Bernier and Pierre Péters, and became the wine with the highest score on the spot, with a score of 98 points!

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
