Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.7 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 31 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by timewithwine on 5/5/2023: A hefty wine with beeswax, honey and lychee from attack to finish. Definite minerality but a nonetheless ripeness as well. Lemon drop, creamed corn, stone fruits, orange blossom, honeysuckle and honey, beeswax. This is textbook mid-valley Loire. 13% alc. With shrimp galette and cheeses. On a late night Friday by the terrace fire. 05.05.23. Highly Recommended. (529 views)
Tasted by parkline_wine on 3/15/2023 & rated 93 points: I liked this a lot! Stone fruits, honey, almost a little wax, minerality, with a nice finish. Paired with sushi - it was a great choice! (538 views)
Tasted by chbeaumont on 12/15/2022 & rated 92 points: This creeps slowly towards maturity. Plenty of latent character, real depth & intensity. Sappy, tight focus, with ‘minerality’ a theme throughout. (614 views)
Tasted by timewithwine on 7/23/2022: We pulled this as a second bottle for dinner after finishing off the Mellott Les Romains. Frankly, the table preferred this wine over the Les Romains. Was it the heft of the wine or the honey and lychee finish of the wine? No idea, but both appealed to me. The color is a captivating yellow. The nose is ripe yet offers some minerality too. Lemon drop, creamed corn, stone fruits, orange blossom, honeysuckle and honey, and a bit of lychee as well. The notes just keep coming. What wasn’t finished off at dinner went down quickly and equally enjoyably the next day. 13% alc. With Creole shrimp over creamed corn. 07.23.22. Highly Recommended. (567 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 3/21/2022: Young and a bit tight, but lovely honied Chenin fruit with dry minerally finish., B+ (needs time) (717 views)
Tasted by chbeaumont on 5/16/2021 & rated 92 points: Cons to previous bottle, a slow developer. Understated, plenty of latent power, well proportioned. Its peak seem a while away. Extended length. (851 views)
Tasted by rhit on 3/30/2021: Far more balanced and integrated after about 10 days in the fridge. Weighty and persistent with light fruit and minerals. (757 views)
Tasted by Tandrew2514 on 1/16/2021: Better on night two than night one. In an interesting place with some air and suggesting good years ahead. Sit on these a bit. (800 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 12/24/2020 & rated 91 points: White orchard fruit, citrus, stony and fresh, again very good, I like to drink them on the younger side. (798 views)
Tasted by Guy Des Rosiers on 9/18/2020 & rated 88 points: Light-to-medium straw core. Citrus and fennel on the nose. Dry, balanced acidity, good fruit intensity (pear, peach and lemon, with fresh fennel on the finish). Cool and beautifully aromatic, this is very different from dry whites from Vouvray, Savennieres or Saumur. Chenin truly is a master of disguise. (894 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 9/15/2020 & rated 91 points: Apple and citrus, fresh with a certain salinity, with aeration it’s getting denser, drinking well as usual. (801 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 8/18/2020 & rated 91 points: Similar note to the last one: apple and citrus, fresh and drinking very well. (823 views)
Tasted by Tandrew2514 on 8/3/2020: This has evolved substantially since first bottle in 2018. More complex, richer and fuller vs pure bright tart acid early on. Interested to see in a few more years, but in a solid place right now. (752 views)
Tasted by The Guzz on 7/16/2020 & rated 90 points: Definitely lush with pronounced apricot fruit as others have said. A sweet mouthfeel and solid length. Good acidity hidden by the baby fat. Interesting chalk flavor/presence on the back end. Not really stony but more of a base/chalk. (861 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 6/11/2020 & rated 89 points: Overall, this wine is classy but not tasty. All the elements of a good wine are there: herbs, green fruit on the nose, and the palate has the heft, round mouthfeel, minerals and the weight of an important wine. Lemon citrus on the finish. Although I enjoyed this with pesto and linquine for dinner, the wine does not stand on its own, it really needs food to shine. For the price it should be tastier by itself! 88/89 (894 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 6/5/2020 & rated 91 points: Yellow green color, white orchard fruit, mainly apple, citrus, fresh and vibrant, light with good tension and length. Like it a lot in it’s youth. (713 views)
Tasted by chbeaumont on 5/26/2020 & rated 90 points: Remains pale; talcum & lemon zest; starts crisp & tight then fills out, plenty of body; lively finish. Yet to peak. (739 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 4/24/2020 & rated 91 points: Yellow green color, on the palate pear and apple, citrus, a bit of yellow fruit (apricot), mineral, mouth coating, has developed towards it’s drinking window, very good for the appellation and level. (717 views)
Tasted by vulgar little monkey on 4/11/2020 & rated 92 points: Another beautiful bottle that has put on a bit of weight without sacrificing the purity and crystalline presentation. I still have no idea whether these will continue to improve with longer term aging and I may never find out given how delicious they are at this stage. (815 views)
Tasted by slanum on 2/8/2020: Tasted alongside a Thibaud Boudignon Anjou blanc this was left in the dust. I didn't perceive any varietal characteristics at all and would not have guessed Chenin blanc had I not been looking at the bottle. A clear miss for me. (817 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 1/25/2020 & rated 90 points: Same impression as with the last one 2 weeks ago: apple, pear, lemon, salty notes, drinking well. (734 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 1/2/2020 & rated 90 points: Apple and pear, lemon, floral, with the nice salinity of the terroir, drinking very well. (812 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 7/19/2019 & rated 90 points: This strikes me as rather serious classy white wine, velvety citrus, hints of glycerine, oak in the finish. This will be best with a formal sit-down white tablecloth dinner, than as a sipping summer "party" wine. It was excellent with sushi tonight. (1182 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 7/18/2019 & rated 90 points: A fresh young wine, mainly apple and lemon, light, to drink now, no need to cellar long time. (929 views)
Tasted by LW31 on 4/1/2019: Lovely vintage. Great depth and style. Very complete. Needs a few years. (1107 views)
