| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.4 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by wino121 on 12/27/2014 & rated 92 points: Massive, ripe and ready, decanted and drank from a mag over a evening. Did not disappoint. (1252 views) | | Tasted by sayward on 1/30/2014 & rated 90 points: Drank from magnum. No decant. A ton of sediment in the bottle. A nice syrah with red fruit on the nose. Typical Cali syrah with some over ripe fruit/sugar going on. Seems like this wine might be a little more muted since its release and this could be a good thing. Finish is smooth. 16.9% alc and hides it well. Drank with our main course so likely hid some of the alc. (1397 views) | | Tasted by jeward on 12/31/2009 & rated 90 points: New years eve dinner. Rack of lamb and venison. Perfect pairing (2341 views) | | Tasted by bigdogflow on 2/15/2009 & rated 90 points: Decanted for 1 hour. Big fruit nose. Tons of dark fruit and some spice on the taste. Nice finish. (2369 views) | | Tasted by jtcseventysix on 12/27/2007 & rated 87 points: Consumed on Christmas 2007 in Chicago with beef tenderloin; over the top (17% alcohol), way too hot and extracted; seems to be the Delectus way, but not enough fruit and richness to cover the alcohol. Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
