Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 86.6 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 18 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Guylecrisp on 9/24/2011 & rated 89 points: Bright and fresh like a blanc, without a strong acidic finish. Fruity green apple and pear notes with a smooth feel on the palate. (4768 views)
Tasted by ecola on 2/5/2011 & rated 86 points: This wine reminds me of a NZ sauv blanc, except it's a white super tuscan. This is much different than the 2004 which had a real mineral feel to it. It's not bad, just not what I expected. Even though the bottle says it was only aged 4-5 in new oak, that seems to be too much and is slightly overpowering. ($12) (4909 views)
Tasted by aafflyer on 2/25/2010 & rated 87 points: Nice white. Enjoyed with cheese, sausage, and pickeled herring. For price paid (4.99), great QPR. (5399 views)
Tasted by BigGer on 1/2/2010 & rated 88 points: The first distinctive sense is saltiness. That's followed by a round, unoaked chardonnay and the whole package comes closer to a Mersault than anything else. Still, the saltiness is dominant and drives toward olives, which is also a good pairing for this wine. (5473 views)
Tasted by bretrooks on 11/7/2009 & rated 85 points: Drank at a friend's house with dinner. Fine with chicken pesto lasagna and green salad with apples & craisins, but nothing special. Restrained aromas of apple and citrus. Palate fresh but a bit thin, with notes of citrus and mineral and a hint of cream lingering at the end. Decent QPR on sale, not so much at full retail. (5695 views)
Tasted by Alan1218 on 6/7/2009 & rated 87 points: clean, crisp and refreshing! Holds up well. Great summer wine. (3168 views)
Tasted by ChickadeeSharon on 12/19/2008 & rated 88 points: Buttery, round-ish mouth feel, reminds me of lemony window cleaner but in a nice way, sweetish impression on finish, interesting white blend (3511 views)
Tasted by jdkru on 3/21/2008 & rated 87 points: No Formal Notes taken. Consumed with a seven course meal that was paired. This one was consumed with Cauliflower Soup. neither one was that great. Not bad though. (3234 views)
Tasted by ttriche on 8/30/2007 & rated 84 points: Interesting, but hardly earthshattering. I was looking for something 'different' and, while I liked the Vernaccia taste (pears?), I think I'll buy a bottle of Vernaccia di San Gimigniano in the future instead of this. The Chardonnay (unoaked, it seemed) was boring to me, there wasn't much nose, and while pleasant, this isn't a wine for which I feel the price is justified. Then again, I'm a cheap novelty-seeker. Medium-bodied, pale amber-green, wet stones, pears, and very faint citrus flavors. I couldn't make out a distinct nose on it. (3835 views)
Tasted by MJHDC on 8/22/2007: Similar notes as before -- there is a good deal of upfront fruit and a nice mineral note. Complex for the price and a great food wine. (3860 views)
Tasted by Valynn on 8/6/2007 & rated 87 points: Straw yellow. Complex and balanced - crisp, tart Vernaccia is nicely balanced with the Chardonnay and oak. Apple on the nose, apple and pineapple taste on the palate, tart apple and citrus zest finish. Paid $11.99, seemed well worth it. (3817 views)
Tasted by drdebs on 7/10/2007 & rated 89 points: Very interesting blend of chardonnay, malvasia, vernaccia, and vermentino which makes for a wine that tastes like a very lean unoaked chard. Aromas of apple and hay, they give way to a mineral and lemon inflected palate. Perfect for delicate shellfish like oysters, shrimp, scallops. Had with seared scallops and lemon orzo. (3801 views)
Tasted by Rupert on 6/26/2007 & rated 88 points: At Latium: lean, fresh, chardonnay, touch of sulphur, the vernaccia adding freshness, satisying (4040 views)
Tasted by RichardZula on 6/21/2007: Thick mouth feel; tart; hint of grapefruit; enjoyable, but not so much to buy again. (3911 views)
Tasted by MJHDC on 6/21/2007: Juicy, with nice lemon and mineral flavors. Very nice with a calamari pasta. (3829 views)
