Fully mature, drink now. (1096 views) | | Tasted by adrenalin112 on 1/10/2018 & rated 91 points: Lots of funky, earthy, herbal notes on pnp. Let breathe or decant for about an hour. Calms down and speaks nicely with well balanced spice, finessed fruit, and structured dry finish. Excellent qpr in the $33 range (2338 views) | | Tasted by Eye Drink Reds on 7/1/2017 & rated 92 points: Opaque color. The cork had a very dark purple stain. Aromas of blackcurrants, menthol, and chocolate. Dense and chunky textured palate with lots of blackcurrants, blackberry, chocolate, and hint of sage. Very Napa 2010 profile. Drinking at peak. Last bottle... wish I had more :( (2977 views) | | Tasted by Eye Drink Reds on 1/9/2016 & rated 91 points: This was a great find, especially for the price. From a great 2010 vintage, shouldn't have been too surprised. Decanted for only an hour. A complex nose of spices, rose petals, eucalyptus, and some leather. The same notes continued on to the palate, with addition of raspberry liquor and creamy milk chocolate. Tannins are a bit grainy but settled down after an hour or so. Its drinking great now (with a 1 hr decant) and might even be better in another year. Drink to 2021. (4141 views) | | Tasted by dedwards on 7/1/2015: a little simplistic but fine (4827 views) | | Tasted by Elvis1969 on 4/16/2015 & rated 90 points: Very accessible and pleasant despite its youth. Nice with a young quality wine where you don't say "this will be great in 10 years".
Exotic spices on the nose, medium body with interesting complexity, low tannins. Medium to long finish. (4194 views) | | Tasted by Jobu on 9/6/2014 & rated 91 points: Red fruit, raspberry and currant, with spice. Well balanced. I generally prefer darker fruit, but this is quite well done. Can age for a bit. (3569 views) | | Tasted by redrules on 8/16/2014 & rated 92 points: This wine is coming into it's own! Deep, tannic, classic big mouthful Napa Cab. Rich, dark fruit, lingering finish. 23.95 at Costco. (2904 views) | | Tasted by Klos Sr. on 5/24/2014 & rated 92 points: Holy cow! This is one very refined cab. A complex and alluring nose led to tasting nothing but a smooth, tannic, well-balanced and spicy wine. I am very impressed and can't believe this is not more highly touted and/or rated. (2189 views) | | Tasted by vikingbass71 on 2/24/2014 & rated 92 points: Purple ruby color. Notes of black cherries, blackberries, spice, a little tight. Taste the same as nose with fine tannins good acid, lingering finish with some loamy soil. Nice (1996 views) | | Tasted by therhonestore on 2/18/2014 & rated 89 points: Dark ruby color. Big rich nose of mint, chocolate covered raspberry, sweet spice, oak. Dry, full body, and tannic with flavors of spice, mint, oak, stewed fruit. Powerful wine that will need some time to integrate. (1399 views) | | Tasted by wineotim on 12/22/2013 & rated 90 points: Deep violet, light cedar nose, cassis and blackberry flavors. Ripe tannins, acidity is a bit sharp, medium bodied, and medium length finish. This wine just begs to be eaten with a steak. Good value. (1890 views) | | Tasted by batlady on 11/24/2013: this one (1307 views) | | Tasted by wineotim on 11/24/2013 & rated 91 points: Ripe tannins, blueberry and blackberry palate, good depth. Compared very well with the '09 Quintessa. Tasted at B-21 Holiday tasting. Cabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
