The tart palate melds bracing acidity with a mineral element, finishing strong with secondary elements and cold stone. The nose, less integral to this wine than its texture and taste, is on the citrus fruit side. Seems like a true food-wine complementing a wide range of dishes; popped and poured with a Vietnamese-style caramel pork dish. If you have not done so, try the Gruner Veltliner it is excellent. (1288 views) | | Tasted by drwine2001 on 9/26/2008: Straw colored. Lime, grapefruit pith, tonic water, and a surprising amount of petrol for a young Riesling. Some of the elements are remarkably Sancerre or Muscadet like. Completely dry, light but excellent intensity and penetration, soil and bitter peach pit on the finish. Nothing blowsy or fat about this wine despite the reputation of the vintage. (1435 views) | | Tasted by MJHDC on 8/8/2008: I really enjoyed this. Great nose, of stone, smoke, lemon rind, and florals just exploding from the glass. A big wine -- very juicy, but with a nice tart, lemony finish. Would go well with a variety of food. This is not inexpensive, but for a top-tier producer in the Wachau, this is a very good value. (1395 views) |
