Tasted by SeattlePaul on 11/20/2018: A bit past its prime but still rather enjoyable. (1297 views)
Tasted by Chip & Susanne on 7/14/2016 & rated 88 points: Classic Spanish vintage year, but is now tipping over in its life. Definitely a big red blend (20% Syrah, 40% Grenache & 40% Carignan) & still retains some fading tannins. Drink now... (2656 views)
Tasted by migliore on 8/19/2014: Fruit comes through with a bit of structure (3525 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 1/15/2014 & rated 89 points: Leather and cedar, spice, ripe red fruit, fully mature, medium weight, good length. (4005 views)
Tasted by GoBlue2002 on 4/12/2013 & rated 89 points: Subtle in aroma and flavor, with a touch of complexity.
Aromas flavors of currant, dark dried fruit, anise, spice, and a hint of olive on the finish. The finish is long with minimal/moderate complexity. Slightly tannic with a little bit of grip, this wine drinks well with food - lamb sausage in a tomato-based sauce in our case. Overall a good wine, but nothing memorable.
I don't see this improving anywhere from here - drink soon, although I don't see it falling off a cliff either. (4352 views)
Tasted by mattyboy_ on 12/12/2012 & rated 88 points: no formal notes taken but this needs some time in the decanter to open up. as others stated below - it drinks like a nice Rhone - reminded me of Vacqueyras/Gigondas. rich and spicy. (3821 views)
Tasted by PUR on 11/7/2012 & rated 89 points: Big, dry, significant but not overpowering tannins. Like a slightly tight laced sibling of a big napa cab. (1671 views)
Tasted by AIB on 10/13/2012 & rated 90 points: Still a very nic ebottle. However, tonight it was stacked up against super powers and you can tell the difference. Gret wine at the price! (2195 views)
Tasted by Orlandus on 9/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Dark color and rich bouquet. Filling on the palate, reminiscent of a good Rhône, reserved fruit. Second half of bottle after two days in wine cooler (55°F) was brighter with more fruit, suggesting some aeration is of benefit. A nice wine for the money. (2232 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 8/25/2012 & rated 90 points: DAWGS August 2012 - Wines from Spanish Speaking Countries (Villa's Open Fire Grill): WIML90

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of licorice, plum, black berries and a hint of floral notes. Flavors of licorice, black berries and black cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink now. (2714 views)
Tasted by AIB on 6/25/2012 & rated 90 points: Love this wine. (1611 views)
Tasted by andrewshi on 4/23/2012 & rated 84 points: A bit disappointing. Strong taste of plums. A bit better day 2. (1570 views)
Tasted by AIB on 2/1/2012 & rated 95 points: Best 20$ bottle i have had. (1871 views)
Tasted by AIB on 1/19/2012 & rated 92 points: Deep red color. Excellent fruit with a bit of vanilla and black licorice. Super wine particularly at the price. Bought 6 more after I tried my first bottle. (1985 views)
Tasted by tanninbomb on 1/1/2012 & rated 90 points: Licorice? The name makes you think of it, the taste ever more so (ah, the power of suggestion!). A little whiff of burned oak on opening, but rich, flavorful and smooth. Earthy. (2317 views)
Tasted by Quarked on 12/14/2011 & rated 88 points: After some air, this was a little funky on the nose but a nice depth of flavor. A little sour, but red fruits, earth, leather. (2189 views)
Tasted by tanninbomb on 11/15/2011 & rated 91 points: Luscious. This was just a scrumptious wine. It was flailing around trying to catch its breath on opening - a little unsettled and unfocused. After an hour, it erupted
Into a playful calliope of dark berry, licorice, spice and earth. It even held up for two days in the fridge. Definitely worth a second date (2517 views)
Tasted by rneirotti on 11/12/2011 & rated 90 points: 89+ upon opening, 91 the following day. (2573 views)
Tasted by urban_dk on 9/29/2011 & rated 84 points: Strong start, plummy with nice minerality and a touch of acidity, but it finished with a dull thud. Not much structure here. Certainly not the 91-pointer that WS claimed it was. (2387 views)
Tasted by markbp on 7/19/2011 & rated 89 points: Very nice ruby red color. Somewhat flat on the nose with some earthy minerality. Nice fruit on the midpalate with cherries, herbs and a hint of graphite. Slightly harsh tannins but not a significant problem for me. Short but nice finish. Drinkable now. WS 91 is deceiving and I would not buy again unless on sale. Although this one was no chump, I have had better Priorats. (2806 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 5/28/2010 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured, juicy, grapey nose with mineral and herbs. Intense start to the palate that turns spicey and herbaceous toward the finish, which is a touch short keeping it from receiving a 90 score. Still quite good to drink over the next couple of years. (3023 views)
Tasted by Quarked on 5/1/2010 & rated 91 points: Shared this with some Spanish friends - was a real hit! No detailed tasting notes, but this was ready to drink immediately on opening. Multiple layers of fruit and smoke. Quite a nice wine. (3024 views)
Tasted by vinopa on 6/13/2009 & rated 89 points: I really enjoyed this priorat..red fruit and tobacco on the nose...smooth on the palate with intense fruit and herbs...not very complex but still a good value for a priorat which are very pricey...I will buy again.. (3273 views)
Tasted by Tigg on 3/30/2009 & rated 87 points: Well balanced. Touches of cherry and tobacco. Pleasant enough, but paying too much for the Priorat appellation. Cellars Unio's wines from Montant cost 1/2 as much and have more body (and more fruit). I don't expect that this wine will develop much more with age. (3274 views)

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
