Tasted by JuliannaDHS on 7/25/2021 & rated 90 points: An improvement from a recent previous bottle. Showed nice fruit (cherry and berry) and fresh acidity right upon opening. Low tannic structure. (950 views)
Tasted by JuliannaDHS on 5/30/2021 & rated 88 points: Seemed tired upon opening but surprisingly improved with air. However, no need to hold this for any longer. (994 views)
Tasted by VoVo on 1/19/2015 & rated 85 points: Color and structure remain good. Enjoyed with a red sauce pasta. Great value wine! (4868 views)
Tasted by Tequilahal on 7/9/2013 & rated 86 points: Average in all respects. make sure the taste of the food flavor
dominates . (7449 views)
Tasted by jaejsvv on 3/5/2012: Nice dry cherry. Good barbera. (9367 views)
Tasted by jpinsb on 12/26/2011 & rated 86 points: Tasted vs the 2006 discovered in the cellar and found th 2006 materially softer, better balanced, more finished. Save a bottle or two for a couple of years and experiment. (9530 views)
Tasted by Doblk on 12/22/2011 & rated 83 points: Did not like as well as first bottle a couple of years ago. Still has nice Barbera softness, but losing depth and a bit overripe tasting. I remember the previous bottle being good with lasagna. But this time not so much. (9331 views)
Tasted by ruffem on 10/15/2011 & rated 87 points: Great value -- and a really nice wine -- great with bolognese sauce on pasta. Medium body, very smooth, well-integrated tannins. Flavors of cherry, blueberry and vanilla. (6934 views)
Tasted by Martin Redmond on 10/15/2011 & rated 85 points: Consistent with prior reviews - Dark ruby color. Nose offers leather, cherries, herbs and oak. On the palate I get baked tart cherries, cassis, smoke, and vanilla. Smooth, medium bodied with well integrated tannins, racy acidity, and a lingering finish. A steal at $7! (5303 views)
Tasted by The Kokopelli on 9/18/2011 & rated 88 points: A deep garnet wine with a medium body. Bursting with dark fruits on the nose at this stage, accompanied with a nice earthiness. Tastes of blackberry and blueberry supported with a generous dose of acidity keep the Fonatanafredda Briccotondo Barbera lively and racy. The texture is soft, but otherwise not impressive. The finish continues with blackberry, blueberry and generous acidity picking up an oak note as it fades away on an average finish. (4119 views)
Tasted by Martin Redmond on 9/11/2011 & rated 86 points: Consistent with prior reviews - Dark ruby color. Nose offers leather, cherries, herbs and oak. On the palate I get tart cherries, cassis, smoke, and vanilla. Smooth, medium bodied with well integrated tannins, racy acidity, and a lingering finish. A steal at $7! (4245 views)
Tasted by careyd on 9/6/2011 & rated 89 points: Color: Dark ruby. Nose: Big nose! Florals meet expressive dark fruits followed by some must and dust. On the palate: Dark black cherry fruit with medium body. Smooth in texture but balancing acidity leads into the midpalate which is still fruit dominated but accented by some pepper, licorice, tar and some plummy notes. The finish is brightly acidic with a return to fruit with a low amount of soft tannins. This wine has a simple aim, has purity of fruit and high delicious factor. A great value. (4412 views)
Tasted by Martin Redmond on 8/9/2011 & rated 86 points: Consistent with prior review - Dark ruby color. Nose offers leather, cherries, herbs and oak. On the palate I get tart cherries, cassis, smoke, and vanilla. Smooth, medium bodied with well integrated tannins, racy acidity, and a lingering finish. A steal at $7!

Tasted by JOsgood on 8/8/2011: Basic Barbera. Not very interesting. Lots of acidity. (4472 views)
Tasted by eidehli on 7/31/2011 & rated 84 points: Slightly sparkling, more bubbles than normal while pouring into the glass, ok after some swirling. (4455 views)
Tasted by KevinMc on 7/21/2011 & rated 90 points: Having been open for three days, I thought this would be totally past drinking. It wasn't. It was excellent. The best description I can come up with is liquefied Nibs candy. Medium-bodied and full of red fruits. Perhaps lacking in complexity, but this is one of the better values I have had. Recommend! (89-90) (4887 views)
Tasted by KevinMc on 7/16/2011 & rated 87 points: I wouldn't call this "excellent", but it's really good. Excellent value and pairs well with any strong flavour. Tonight it complemented slow BBQ'd pork ribs. Fresh aromas and flavours of red berries and licorice. None of it's qualities are exceptional, but it more than meets expectations across the board. Recommend. (4832 views)
Tasted by hecvil on 6/9/2011 flawed bottle: was going through a secondary fermentation, i think. bubbly, just a bad bottle i guess. (5232 views)
Tasted by Snoman on 6/4/2011 & rated 86 points: Reasonably good for the $7/btl price, but not a reorder. Muted fruit behind a tart veil. Might improve a bit over the next year or two, if worth taking up cellar space. (5135 views)
Tasted by urban_dk on 5/25/2011 & rated 80 points: Fair value at $7. Wouldn't pay any more. Notes of cherry and some vanilla, but no real depth. Drink now, as what flavor profile there is will be DOA within the year. (5159 views)

Tasted by Not647f on 5/22/2011 & rated 88 points: Richer after being open and under vacuvin for a few days. Good with burgers, simple meals. Nice compliment to the charcoal broiled Prather Ranch burgers we had (that wife described as the best burger she'd ever had). (5115 views)
Tasted by Palafo on 5/13/2011 & rated 84 points: Alcohol in the nose, smooth and juicy with a sour hint, good with pizza and a bargain (5183 views)
Tasted by dfeiner on 5/9/2011 & rated 90 points: Possibly, but only possibly affected by the 6.99 (maybe 7.99) WinEx price on this. But don't think I've ever liked a barbera as much. Pronounced acidity with black cherry and a bit of prune flavor but all balanced particularly well with the acid. This is a bit of menthol in the nose and a velvety mouthfeel that I think really makes this an enjoyable drink. I'd buy more without hesitation. (5357 views)
Tasted by bmatranga56@outlook.com on 5/1/2011 & rated 86 points: Bought based on high ratings for top Italian wines. Was not disappointed and a good value. Ruby in color with a nose of cherries; Tastes also of sweet red cherries, smoke with a bit of spice and good acidity; Good everyday wine; drank with pasta but would also go well with pizza. Barbera

Varietal character (Appellation America)
Varietal character (Wikipedia German)
Varietal character (Wikipedia English)
Barbera is a red wine variety, originally from Italy, which is best known as the second-most important Piedmontese variety after Nebbiolo. The wines made of this grape are mainly the everyday drinking wines of the region. The main appellations producing Barbera are Asti and Alba.

Barbera - The most widely grown red wine grape of Piedmont and Southern Lombardy, most famously around the towns of Asti and Alba, and Pavia. The wines of Barbera were once simply "what you drank while waiting for the Barolo to be ready." With a new generation of wine makers, this is no longer the case. The wines are now meticulously vinified, aged Barbera gets the name "Barbera Superiore" (Superior Barbera), sometimes aged in French barrique becoming "Barbera Barricato", and intended for the international market. The wine has bright cherry fruit, a very dark color, and a food-friendly acidity.
