Drink now or for the next 2-3 years. (2094 views) | | Tasted by fifisoda on 11/8/2013 & rated 89 points: Very approachable cab! Nice fruit forward with smooth tannic finish that's not over powering. (3925 views) | | Tasted by fifisoda on 11/8/2013 & rated 90 points: This was a great approachable cab for this ZIN girl. Fruit forward but with a nice light tannic finish. Yum (4006 views) | | Tasted by TEXAS TOAD on 12/27/2012 & rated 85 points: Took a long time to open up then it was good, not great (5431 views) | | Tasted by Schaeferr on 10/25/2012 & rated 92 points: Based on the other comments, another year of age for this wine has done it good. My wife and I uncorked a bottle last night after receiving a shipment from wine.woot in the last month. It was fabulous: some nice blackberry type smells on the nose, the palate had a great peppery taste, and it had a very long and satisfying finish. The QPR for this wine is off the chains. This is a fantastic wine, and I'm completely distraught that I only have four more bottles of it. (5575 views) | | Tasted by caddis on 11/26/2011 & rated 90 points: Oustanding QPR here. Rich, full, fruity cab with nice nose and moderate tannins on the finish. We all liked it and I wish I had more. (5658 views) | | Tasted by g1976b on 11/23/2011 & rated 88 points: Drinks young. Seems like it will be nice if it lays down for a couple of years...surprising for a 2007 at this point. Everything is there to expect this to develop into a very nice wine. (3845 views) | | Tasted by redredwine67 on 11/6/2011 & rated 86 points: This isn't a pop and pour wine. It was very tight w/o decanting. It opened up and really mellowed a couple hours after opening. It will be interesting to see if it will evolve if it sits in the cellar. (4349 views) |
| 2007 Emery Estate Cabernet Sauvignon UnbridledAlcohol Content: 15.13% Bottle Size: 750 ml Cases Produced: 2,300 cases RS: 0.90 Winemaker: Derek Irwin Appellation: Sonoma Valley Cooperage: 30% new FO, 70% 2-3 yr old usedCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma ValleySonoma County, California, is one of the most important winegrowing regions in the whole of the United States. Vines have been planted here since the 1850s and, apart from the inevitable hiatus brought about by Prohibition, the county's relationship with wine has been prolific and unbroken.
Viticulturally speaking, Sonoma County is divided into three distinct sections: Sonoma Valley, Northern Sonoma and Sonoma Coast. Each of these has its own AVA title and encompasses several sub-AVAs within its boundaries. |
