Tasted by StefanAkiko on 11/18/2023: Winferno in Umeå (Stöcksjö, Umeå): Deg ~2000.
Yellow with few bubbles.
Aromatically: a lot of old apples.
The nicest thing I can say (from my taste) is that I found the acidic profile to be delicious. (904 views)
Tasted by wineaficionado on 7/27/2023 & rated 93 points: Color: Medium to deep yellow with a copper tone. Mouth: Fine mousse. Brioche and fruity aromas. Unlike many other champagnes with this one there is a balance between brioche and fruit. Excellent expressiveness and length. Some complexity. (1005 views)
Tasted by NickNYC on 7/3/2023 & rated 92 points: half bottle. P&P. this half bottle has been in my cellar since I do not know when, I would say more than 10 years, probably around 15. great nose, first on spices, butter and biscuit notes. after half an hour ocean breeze notes appeared. the nose is obviously showing the age of the champagne, but all is balanced, I love t where it is now. the bubble is fine, delicate good acidity and length. I like the nose more than the palate but all in all, this bottle is very very good. (1022 views)
Tasted by red_man on 12/31/2022 & rated 90 points: persistent fine bubbles, deeper more powerful Champagne, clean and fresh even though it has spent a couple of years in the cellar, went well both with food and alone (1444 views)
Tasted by RGCM Gananda on 12/15/2022 & rated 89 points: Lemon, light orange, floral and light toast notes on the nose. Close to medium bodied with rounded orchard fruit notes upfront, gaining nice depth through the middle. Adds some light lemon and orange notes behind to go along with very good tart notes and acidity on the back and through the finish. The mid-body fruit/depth worked quite well with the combination of acidity and tartness behind. Overall, not tremendously complex, but well constructed and drinking quite enjoyably at present (The Fed cocktail bar, The Langham Hotel; Boston, Massachusetts) (1539 views)
Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 12/4/2022: Retail $45. 60% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, 40% Chardonnay. Consistent notes.

Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 11/29/2022 & rated 92 points: Retail $45. 60% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, 40% Chardonnay. Due to my affinity for Domaine Carneros, I picked up several bottles of this Taittinger, aka "the mother ship." While I am less familiar with this house than others, this wine certainly shined. Great fruit (mostly citrus), yeastiness (I am going with fresh croissant), and nuttiness (almond and hazelnut) on the nose, with a tongue-lashing acidity, a mouthful of fruit, and a finish that lasted at least this long into this note. Yowza.

Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 11/19/2022: Retail $45. 60% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, 40% Chardonnay. This was on sale again at my local H-E-B (I love my H-E-B) for $36 and I bought three more. Amazingly consistent notes. 91 Pts.

Tasted by Vera Wind on 10/8/2022 & rated 81 points: Date of degorgement unknown.
On the nose cream and citrus.
On the palate grilled lemon, apples, cream and something slightly spicy. On the skinny side. Almost cider-character. Acidity a little weak and the most disappointing thing of all; the mousse died very quickly. I'll pass on this one. (898 views)

first bitter, but better soon.

Tasted by fc1910 on 8/6/2022 & rated 88 points: Served in the garden by friends of us,
good grip, zesty lemon, yeasty, well balanced, a NV to just feel fine and enjoy the afternoon outside, may get more structure with some additional cellar years, an easy 88 (1730 views)
Tasted by winepog on 7/19/2022 & rated 90 points: Rich and good. Had a little age and drinking well with that. (1222 views)

Tasted by drrobvino on 6/19/2022 & rated 88 points: Enjoyed in MT during a Glacier trip. Solid Champagne, traveled well (in my suitcase), no formal TN. (1117 views)
Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 5/15/2022 & rated 91 points: Retail $45. 60% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, 40% Chardonnay. This was on sale at my local H-E-B for about 36 bucks and I had to dive in. Sure, it is a bit outside of my comfort zone, but it is pretty darned tasty. Plenty of fruitiness, and even more yeastiness, this, I would have to say, is a classic Champagne. Tart, toasty, fruity. Yes, this is not my go-to champagne (that would be Mailly Grand Cru), but at this price ($33) it could certainly try to break into that upper tier. Very Nice.

Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 3/6/2022 & rated 89 points: Retail $45. 60% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, 40% Chardonnay. I can't believe that this is my first note for one of Champagne's leading producers and while I am far from an expert on the brand, I am a fan of the wines. There is plenty of citrus (lemon zest) and yeast (baking brioche) on the nose of this straw colored wine, along with a bit of hazelnut. The palate is fresh and focused, exactly what one would expect and hope for from a Champagne staple. Very nice.

Tasted by red_man on 11/25/2021 & rated 90 points: fine persistent bubbles, nose classy, restrained, warm bread, nutty, palate has depth and power, good with even quite strong food, this bottle I suspect is carrying some age, which was only to its advantage, very enjoyable (1710 views)
Tasted by Winewhiskeyfood on 7/1/2021 & rated 90 points: Clean and crisp my favorite champagne for the money (2312 views)
Tasted by red_man on 4/6/2021 & rated 89 points: fine persistent bubbles, classy quite powerful nose, also quite powerful on the palate, dry, perfect food champagne, very enjoyable, easy, went down a treat (2472 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 12/31/2020: Third bottle of the night and no really detailed notes, but the two before were a bit more of the racy extra dry style. This was rounder than those. There was almost more of a chemical note to it, but might have just been me imagining it. We've been using these as cellar defenders but with that extra dosage I wonder if this wouldn't benefit from a bit of age. (2659 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 8/7/2020: End of night bubbles sitting around a nice fire in a '3 seasons' room where you can basically appreciate the beauty of the night but avoid the craziness of the bugs (good for me as I'm just a magnet for them). For the price we got this, it's a nice champagne, easy to drink, not in the same category as the two drunk earlier but at this point in the evening you want more of a background style wine and it fit the purpose perfectly.  Tasted by drrobvino on 6/7/2020 & rated 88 points: Tasty, a bit sweet and straightforward, but good nonetheless. (2482 views)

N.V. Taittinger Champagne Cuvée Prestige

Taittinger Cuvée Prestige Brut is a blend of around fifty different vineyards, consisting of Chardonnays (40%) and Pinots (60%) from various vintages matured to perfection. Such a high proportion of Chardonnay is seldom found in fine non-vintage champagne. Taittinger considers it an honour to produce a Brut champagne every year without exception.

Taittinger Cuvée Prestige Brut is unique for its crisp bouquet and balanced aromas. Its finesse, vigour and exuberance on the palate make it the perfect champagne for any occasion.

“Creating a great non-vintage champagne is more than just an occupation for myself and my family – it is an honour.”

Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger.

TO THE EYE

The brilliant body is golden yellow in colour. The bubbles are fine, while the foam is discreet yet lingering.

TO THE NOSE

The nose, very open and expressive, delivers aromas of fruit and brioche. It also gives off the fragrance of peach, white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) and vanilla pod.

ON THE PALATE

The entry onto the palate is lively, fresh and in total harmony. This is a delicate wine with flavours of fresh fruit and honey.

Taittinger Cuvée Prestige Brut is aged in the cellar for three to four years to reach perfect maturity and develop excellent aromatic potential.

FOOD PAIRING

Taittinger Cuvée Prestige Brut is the champagne for any occasion. A symbol of festivity, this wine is the ideal partner of celebration for the happiest milestones in a lifetime.

A legacy since 1734, Champagne Taittinger is the largest eponymous family owned Champagne House and one of the top, independent champagne brands in the world.

This family of growers cultivates the second largest vineyard in the Champagne region. The composition of the house’s cuvées is a result of an intuitive and complex process, one which the Taittinger family know how to create and sustain; a Champagne which is completely unique.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
