Tasted by vinorsk on 4/4/2020 & rated 93 points: Rich, ripe, smooth and still grippy in April 2020. A thoroughly enjoyable California cab that can still stand up to a dry aged Ribeye. The fruit is married with cedar and speice and a peppery acidity. Incredible QPR. I wish I had more. (960 views)
Tasted by vinorsk on 12/27/2017: Classic full bodied Napa cab. Opened nicely over the evening. There is plenty of life left. (2118 views)
Tasted by vinorsk on 7/24/2017 & rated 90 points: A very good food wine. Still vibrant and big at 10 years. Black fruit cassis and significant tannic structure. Well-balanced acidity. Cedar on the nose and a little dust on the palet. Slightly juicy when sipped but perfect with a burger. Plenty of time left. It drinks young. (2749 views)
Tasted by asajoseph on 7/2/2016 & rated 95 points: Really deep garnet colour. Has the appearance of a wine several years older, but the pure, cassis fruity nose of a wine much younger. Only a hint of cedar wood & tobacco on the nose, which is youthful. Palate is about right though - cassis, and a smooth tannic mouthfeel, though the alcohol is a little hot. Benefits from decanting. (89)

Edit: also benefits from a good steak. With food, this became something quite different. Astonishingly smooth & elegant. Beautiful. (95) (3670 views)
Tasted by ddingley on 11/22/2015 & rated 92 points: this was a day 2 score; opened up very nicely to reveal nice balanced Cab, fruit and just a touch of leather, more the juicy 2007 style and not the most complex, but a good Cab for the reasonable price. (4002 views)
Tasted by redsonly on 9/22/2015 & rated 92 points: Day 2 it was dynamite. Just not ready yet. (3527 views)
Tasted by Crateandbarrell on 5/7/2015 & rated 93 points: Openned and let breath for 45 mins. Very tannic. Drank a glass and enjoyed anyway. Let it decant more. After about a 2 hours the world will tilt in this wines flavour and she will become a shinning star. Patience is what she needs. (2763 views)
Tasted by wpiers on 7/6/2013 & rated 89 points: Good not great. Maybe my standards are going up. Still quite enjoyable, though. (3859 views)
Tasted by JumpAroundOnGrapes on 10/13/2012 & rated 92 points: this was likely a re-release from their library/cellar. delicious. grippy upon opening, but 2.5 hours later (without decanting) it was really opening up. dark blackberry and currant fruits. full-bodied. more cocoa on the palate the longer it was open. could still lay this down for a while longer. great wine. (4045 views)
Tasted by redsonly on 9/28/2012 & rated 89 points: So good. Needs decant time for cab franc to shine. Hold for another year. (3689 views)
Tasted by mukden on 8/31/2012 & rated 86 points: NO. Fruity, quaffy, forgetable. (3621 views)
Tasted by atilla on 8/4/2012 & rated 92 points: Eminently drinkable now but will likely improve. Nicely structured with balanced fruit and tannins. Decanted for 30 minutes. (3800 views)
Tasted by Xfactor on 6/3/2012 & rated 88 points: Was expecting more power. Suave and polished with nice fruit, but really needs to be turned up to '11'. Black cherry and blackberry abound - wish we had gotten the 'pencil shavings' and 'currant' from the wine buyer recommendation at Canal's. Soft, medium long finish, not very rich or opulent at all. At $36, its an 88, below $30 it would approach 90. (2304 views)
Tasted by ptelgenh on 3/30/2012 & rated 89 points: Huge fruit, probably too young now. (2033 views)
Tasted by Billiken on 3/28/2012 & rated 90 points: Great nose. Deep dark fruit. Too young to have drunk, but will be great in a couple of years; still very tight. (1998 views)
Tasted by wpiers on 2/18/2012 & rated 92 points: Young, but terrific. Chocolate blackberry, will be great in a few years. (2163 views)
Tasted by Dandiophile on 2/18/2012: Cabernet Sauvignon tasting (Peterborough, Ontario): My favoruite of our Cabernet night. Cassis, cedar, chocolate, raspberry. Medium acidity, lots of tannic structure. This can use several years in the cellar to really shine. Long, juicy, ripe. Bit of Cab Franc & Merlot in the blend. (2767 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 7/25/2011 & rated 88 points: Vanguard (Columbus, OH): Boozy nose, stemmy $43 (3645 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 3/11/2011 & rated 91 points: Cincinnati Wine Festival (Cincinnati, OH): Restrained, structured, darkish, medium+ oak, concentrated. (3586 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
