Garnet colour. Mmm Xin typicity on the nose: tomatoes in all their forms, (fresh, pulped & candied), olives, herbs as well as stewed dark & red fruits. Medium body, high acidity & tannins. Good dusty fruit on the palate with even some leather & earth emerging later on both nose & palate. (6205 views) | | Tasted by cooberp on 10/10/2011 & rated 87 points: Translucent ruby color, medium body Very structured with sharp acid followed by strong tannin. Red cherry fruit. Very chalky/limestone texture, almost like sticking a piece of slate in your mouth. Would have confused for Piedmont blind. Too young. (5861 views) | | Tasted by Stefanos T. on 8/22/2011 & rated 90 points: Tasted one day after the 2006 vintage, very similar, so similar tasting notes. This one was slightly more elegant with riper tannins, if leaner (in a good sense). Fantastic wines in any case. (5303 views) | | Tasted by Yiannis on 7/26/2011 & rated 91 points: Medium-dark garnet. Initially intense barnyard aromas that fade (not completely...) to give way to a very refined, complex, elegant and Barolo-like nose of violets, cherries, raspberries, tar and only hints of the signature tomato notes. Medium+ bodied, surprisingly evolved, with round tannins, rich fruit, balancing acidity and a long aftertaste. An excellent xinomavro, with great qpr. Ready to enjoy now, with richly sauced dishes. (1859 views) | | Tasted by michelleee on 7/17/2011 & rated 92 points: Greece's answer to Italy's Nebbiolo and France's Pinot Noir. Refined and elegant. Bing Cherry, chanterelles, forest floor, damp moss and cardamom. Paired well with Pastitsio (Baked pasta and Beef with tomato, cinnamon, and nutmeg) (1937 views) | | Tasted by The New Alcoholic on 5/1/2011 & rated 92 points: Pronounced nose of strawberries, some tomato. Perfect balance with medium-full (for xinomavro) body, soft tannins and good acidity. Long finish. Great wine. Recommended. (1871 views) |
