Tasted by wbduval on 10/5/2013 & rated 92 points: Wonderful - glad I have two more so that we can see how it develops over the next few years. (3043 views)
Tasted by Winevestor on 7/19/2013 & rated 92 points: I'm a big Turley fan - it is my comfort wine. So I was looking forward to my first Biale. I was not disappointed. This was a full bodied Zin with more backbone than I was expecting. The fruit was full, red berry and with a nice touch of dirt about it. Great wine. Pretty expensive though. (3152 views)
Tasted by wbduval on 9/21/2012 & rated 92 points: Drinking very nicely at the moment - well balanced. Glad that I have more of this! (3745 views)
Tasted by Martin Redmond on 1/27/2012 & rated 90 points: ZAP 2012 Flights Forum (Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco): Dark black-red color with aromatic dark red fruit, dust and baking spice aromas. On the palate full-bodied, with velvety mouthfeel, and black cherry, boysenberry, and baking spice flavors. Medium-long finish. 98% Zinfandel/2% Petite Sirah. 16.1% ABV. Suggested Retail = $75 (4762 views)
Tasted by KPB on 11/24/2011 & rated 90 points: Quite a nice Zin... Ripe, flavorful, loads of crunch berries , smoother than Black Chicken (3987 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 10/7/2011: Opened this in the hotel room as we relaxed a bit before dressing for dinner. Dark color with perfumed blackberry, spice and red fruit qualities. Lovely black fruit, spice and brambly raspberry liqueur flavors. Powerful, but well-balanced. (2528 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 10/6/2011 & rated 92 points: Tasting at Robert Biale: Bright ruby-garnet color. Spicy red fruit, pomegranate and raspberry aromas. Full-bodied, with pepper, raspberry liqueur and red fruit flavors. Terrific juice- unanimous favorite of the tasting. $75/bottle. (2716 views)

Sommelier Journal, July 31, 2011
(Robert Biale Vineyards Zinfandel Aldo’s Vineyard, Napa Valley) Epitomizing the moderately weighted, understated yet fruit-forward house style, this wine gives off aromas of luscious black-cherry fruit, tinged by leafy mint-eucalyptus notes. Exuberant flavors of the same are underlined by mild acidity and sturdy tannins, tucked neatly beneath a seamless, velvet texture. Special Report: Napa Valley Zinfandel

Aldo's Vineyard

[Winery notes]: Aldo’s Vineyard, planted in 1937, lies along Napa’s Jefferson Street in a newly named sub appellation of Napa Valley - the Oak Knoll District (OKD). It is both ironic and surprising that this spot, quite near where the first Zinfandel was planted in Napa Valley in the 1800’s, is today the oldest Zinfandel vineyard in the district. Flat, cool, breezy, and mild (and now surrounded by newer houses), this hidden vineyard itself is anything but dramatic, and the wine sublime. Deep, layered, ethereal, and silky, the Aldo’s is appreciated by Zin afficianados for its gentle “pillowy” texture and dark and exotic black fruit character. In a way it is Burgundian, the anti-Zin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
