Tasted by shafer1994 on 12/24/2023 & rated 98 points: Even better than last bottle. Nearly black color, complex nose. Dark fruits, chocolate. Wonderful length. Will keep more than a decade. Wonderful. (190 views)
Tasted by shafer1994 on 10/28/2023 & rated 97 points: Still a youngster. Deep dark color, nose of sublime complexity. It took 2 hours two hours to open up. Notes of dark berries dominate the palate: black currant, black cherries. Surrounded by dark chocolate, brown mushrooms, mocca, earthy but also balsamic notes. Very present tannins in the long finish, all polished and silky. This wine will definitely last for more than another decade. (267 views)
Tasted by overkloud on 12/11/2022 & rated 97 points: My last bottle of the pack I purchased a few years back. Yet this is the best bottle. Has all the qualities of the previous bottles with even smoother well integrated tannin. (617 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 11/28/2018 & rated 88 points: At Piccolo Sogno in Chicago with Todd G, this was my contribution for the evening. Decanted at the restaurant, sat for about 30 minutes, drank over an hour.

Medium/dark garnet. Nose showing dark fruits, graphite and herbs, but a bit flat. Palate showing dark fruits, earth notes, mushroom, baking spice. This was showing well early, shut down for a bit. We revisited later, it was good but lacking the depth I remember in prior bottles. I would describe it as a little dried out - the opposite of where I thought it would be an hour+ in.

May be an off bottle and may need more air time to fully open. Will try with next bottle . I am a huge fan of Verite, this bottle had a disapointing showing on this evening (1925 views)
Tasted by pdbender on 8/20/2018 & rated 99 points: Huge, voluptuous wine that went on and on and on. Best wine I've tasted this year. Decanted for one hour and revealed a brooding, dark color. There is nothing shy about this wine with flavors of dark chocolate, spice, black currants, licorice, lead pencil and forest floor. It actually felt intense on the palate as it blasted you with layers and layers of complexity. A true "tour de force" as RP put it! Probably the best Sonoma wine I've ever tasted! (1741 views)
Tasted by overkloud on 7/8/2018 & rated 95 points: We didn't decant. It opens up in the glass after about 1 hour. Dark fruit, opulent with mushroom, chocolate. very fine tannin. long finish. This is at peak drinking window right now . (1794 views)
Tasted by lifeattable on 10/22/2016 & rated 89 points: Tasted, then decanted for maybe 30 mins. Great nose: savory, nuanced, expressive. Palate, on the other hand, was somewhat disjointed. Lots of flavor for sure, but it is often slightly out of balance. Does evolve nicely over time. This was my only bottle but I'd say it probably needs more time to come together, or at least a few hours of air. (2522 views)
Tasted by napasoutherner on 10/23/2014 & rated 90 points: Poor showing for this wine actually. Opened 1.5 hours before dinner and decanted. Nose was flat and the overall experience was as well. Not much there. Probably past peak. Disappointed (3207 views)
Tasted by Tonythefish on 7/10/2014 & rated 96 points: Outstanding. Cabernet franc base with tons of Bordeaux hints. Great nose, slightly tannic and big finish (2745 views)
Tasted by JDV.DDSPHD on 9/23/2013 & rated 98 points: Cab Franc driven and it is astounding. Just a perfect example of what a cab franc should be. Rounded, complex, fruit driven but balanced. Silky smooth over the palate with tannins that cover your palate and enhance the experience. You can smell the fresh berries intertwined with almost a tar and leath on the nose which was so appealing. All three wines were so different but so amazing and each nose made you want to enjoy the experience. Just a great balance of power and beauty. (3145 views)
Tasted by robertek on 9/7/2013 & rated 92 points: Actually a bit closed at the moment not offering up too much on the nose. Well balanced and elegant however made it very enjoyable. Yet it left us feeling it has more to offer.. (3122 views)
Tasted by wabi47 on 10/28/2012 & rated 92 points: initially young and unforgiving with dark red fruit, straw, earth and tannins; still opening up over several hours to reveal big dark plum and black raspberry (a bit of liqueur); still young and a bit untamed, but the potential is there (2948 views)
Tasted by LDWine on 4/25/2012 & rated 96 points: Drank at Craft with Bruce and Jude (2295 views)
Tasted by Seo on 5/9/2008 & rated 89 points: Good lush fruit that bursts in your mouth. Sweetness of fruit was nicely countered by some spice and tannin. Needs some more time in the bottle to really find itself though. Not as good as the 2003 La Joie. (notes from memory) (2734 views)
Tasted by OneLastSyrah on 9/5/2007: ($130) Jess Jackson Three Terroirs Tasting: More complex nose with leafy fruit, a touch of coffee. Dark fruit. Nice. More feminine and perfumey. Best showing of the flight. (2055 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
