(1985 views) | | Tasted by stvjackson on 2/19/2013 & rated 92 points: A rich, assertive wine that maintains good balance and elegant smoothness. Complex, somewhat spicy nose showcases aromas of blackberry, currant, eucalyptus, dust and hints of game. Attacks with notes of plum and blackberry, with hints of liquorice, cocoa and lavender. Finishes with plush tannins and lingering acidity. (1938 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 2/16/2013 & rated 90 points: Trione Tiny Bottle Tasting; 2/12/2013-2/16/2013 (My Place - Washington, DC): Lush and complex aromas of sour cherry, red currant, tar, rhubarb and green and black peppercorns. The palate shows silky-sweet tannins and medium acid. I love the fleshy red currant and raspberry fruit, and it’s backed up by bay leaf, smoke and earth. Rich oak adds a creamy aspect to this nicely balanced red wine. It’s in a beautiful spot right now (at least as much as I can judge from a 50ml bottle), but if I had a full bottle, I’d lay it down for three or four years and see what kind of herbal and dried fruit flavors come out. A blend of 57% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 4% petite verdot and 4% malbec. (2223 views) | | Tasted by MattMauldin on 1/16/2013 & rated 91 points: Trione tasting: Deep ruby garnet color that coats the glass. Notes of roasted coffee, anise, stone and black cherry on the nose. Richly layered on the palate with black fruit, brown spice, violets and sweet creamy oak notes. Polished throughout with big round tannins and a full finish. Warmly approachable, very nice. (2503 views) | | Tasted by Gnome on 1/14/2013: Gave this as a gift wine over the holidays on my local merchant's recommendation, finally got around to trying it. Perfect gift wine. Very nice, no flaws, HUGE bottle. (2041 views) | | Tasted by bdspbs1210 on 11/24/2012 & rated 91 points: Beautiful dark fruit, blackberry, ripe plums, hints of licorice and coco. Abit of earthen flavor with a nice smooth finish. A nice food wine, steak or venison. (568 views) | | Tasted by jfaulk on 10/22/2012 & rated 92 points: Great, well balanced blend. | Trione Producer websiteRed Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyAlexander Valley Alexander Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia
